Today we’d like to introduce you to Jhosselyn Vides.
Hi Jhosselyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Jhosselyn, I am from Guatemala, city, I moved to Houston, TX in 2008, I did, my high school here and I went to cosmetology school since I was always interested in beauty; my first time working in a beauty salon was in 2018, at first it was very difficult because I was new working with clients and also because I had 3 jobs, but that made me value my work, at first I would help with anything in the beauty salon since all I wanted was to learn more and more, my goal always was to become a Quinceañera and bridal makeup artist, slowly but surely I’m getting there, I wouldn’t be here without my beautiful clients, my friends, my biggest support my family and God! I wouldn’t be here without them!
2023 has been a great year so far
I’m 29 years old
I’m a Quinceañera and a bridal pro makeup artist
I’m one of the owners of a beauty salon
I’m making my dreams come true
All you need is to be patient and work hard for what you really want!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is easy in this life, but I can’t complain I feel that some struggles I have had in my career have helped me to become the person I am.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional makeup artist. I’m proud of being available to make my dreams come to reality because of my dream job.
What sets me apart from others is that I don’t feel like anyone is my competition, I’m my own competition,
And I don’t think I’m better than anyone else.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
I love to take risk; the first time when I started working in a beauty salon,
I started renting my space with 0 clients; I was broke.
I didn’t have a stable income, but I took the risk of renting, and 5 years later, here I’m, with a beautiful Beaty salon that I can call my own place
