Hi Karenn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My entrepreneurial journey began in with my families business, where I gained invaluable experience and a strong work ethic from a young age. As a young mother, I navigated the challenges of balancing business responsibilities with the joys and demands of parenthood. Initially, my focus was on providing giant balloons and breakfast boxes, but when the pandemic disrupted supply chains and drove up prices, I knew I needed to change.
I turned to studying market trends and that is when I saw an opportunity in laser-cut items. Intrigued by the potential, I invested in a laser cutting machine and began experimenting with various products, sharing my creations on social media to gauge interest and find my new niche. After a few months, event signage emerged as a promising direction for my business.
As demand for my event signage grew, so did the strain on my personal life. Balancing the demands of running a growing business with family responsibilities became very challenging, and I found myself overwhelmed and sleep-deprived. Recognizing the need for support, my husband encouraged me to hire assistance.
In June of 2022, I made the decision to bring Vale onboard. Her work ethic, attention to detail, and patience to learn has been instrumental in the continued success and growth of B|A. I don’t think Vale is fully aware on the significant impact she has made in my life. Her skills and dedication have lightened my workload and allowed me to focus on scaling the business while maintaining a healthier work-life balance.
Today, B|A has evolved into much more than a gift shop. With a focus on event signage and a dedicated team supporting its operations, I am grateful for the journey and the incredible clients who have contributed to our growth and success.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been easy, but I am glad it hasn’t been. For me, my biggest struggle has been finding my niche. I always hear people say that, but I never quite understood the importance of it. Finding my niche opened so many doors for me, especially when it comes to finding my ideal clients.
I have also learned about the importance of asking for help. As a business owner, I used to believe I had to handle every obstacle on my own, but I’ve come to realize that’s not sustainable or necessary. I now understand that we can ask for help, and it doesn’t mean we are weak. Building a support system within the business community has been crucial for me. I’ve cultivated friendships with entrepreneurs who understand the challenges of running a business and can offer advice, support, and even practical assistance when needed. We’ve created a culture of collaboration rather than competition, where we can freely exchange ideas, vent frustrations, and provide support to one another without fear of judgment.
While the road has been challenging, each obstacle has been an opportunity for growth and learning. By finding my niche, embracing the power of asking for help, and building a supportive network within the business community, I’ve been able to navigate through the challenges and continue moving forward on this entrepreneurial journey.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work revolves around the creation of modern acrylic signage, specializing in a wide range of items, including bar menus, welcome signage, names, backdrop signs, and essentially anything acrylic. What truly sets us apart is our dedication to modern aesthetics and an unwavering commitment to detail and uniqueness in every piece we craft.
We are driven by a passion for modern aesthetics and a relentless pursuit of uniqueness. Each item we create is meticulously crafted to reflect the individuality of the event it’s designed for. We take pride in ensuring that no two items are alike, offering our clients a truly bespoke experience that sets their event apart.
What I’m most proud of is the recognition and trust we’ve earned from our clients, including prominent figures and celebrities. Our work has graced events for Vander Pump Rules, The Grammy’s, Rockets, Lululemon, J-Harden, Texans, as well as various renowned rappers and actors. Being entrusted with creating memorable signage for such high-profile events is a testament to the quality and creativity of our work.

The quality or characteristic that I feel is most important to my success is a combination of creativity and a strong commitment to customer service. Growing up in a business-oriented family provided me with invaluable knowledge and skills in business operations and customer relations. This foundation, combined with my innate passion for art and design, has been instrumental in shaping the success of my business.
Creativity fuels my work and drives me to constantly innovate and push the boundaries of design. It allows me to create unique and visually stunning acrylic signage that captivates attention and leaves a lasting impression on clients and their guests.
Also, a strong commitment to customer service is paramount. I prioritize understanding my clients’ needs and delivering solutions that exceed their expectations. Building long-lasting relationships based on trust, reliability, and exceptional service has been key to retaining clients and earning referrals.
