Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariela Noguera.
Hi Mariela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was never a spiritual person. If anything I’ve always been highly logical and analytical, which is reflected in my career as a Geologist. I’ve worked for the Oil Industry for about 15 yrs and I was pretty sure that would be doing that for the rest of my life. But comes 2020, and my two dogs (Cassidy and Shooter) are in their last stages of cancer. At the same time I was furloughed from my job, which came pretty handy in terms of having the time for my pets, along with a weird string of coincidences. It was like as things were getting pretty bad, at the same time everything I needed to deal with this situation was provided for without effort.
I was open and desperate to find and try anything that could help my dogs. Somehow I ended up having a session with an Animal Communicator, who told be my dog Cassidy liked the tingly warm feelings he would get whenever I touched him. She asked me if I was a Reiki practitioner because I was channeling energy to my dogs. I had no idea what she was talking about, but I was curious enough to look it over.
My dogs passed soon after, and I started seriously looking into Reiki. I had heard that Reiki helps develop abilities to communicate with those in Heaven, and I wanted desperately to be in contact with my dogs. I still wasn’t completely sold into the “woo woo”- how could I believe in something I can’t feel?- so I decided to take this as my own scientific project and took a class to get attuned to Reiki. In my mind, the only way to test if Reiki was real was by experiencing it front row.
What came later was better than any therapy I’ve had before. I started feeling more at peace, the grief eased up much easily. By the end of 2020 I’ve got laid off and I wasn’t even mad. That was a surprising point to me, considering I’ve been dealing with a lifetime of anxiety disorders and CPTSD.
My experience with Reiki was comparable to tasting chocolate for the very first time. It was so remarkable, yet gentle and easy. After a lifetime of trying different things to improve my mental and emotional health, I had finally found something that helped. I wanted to share this gift with the world, and specially with those who like me, were skeptical yet curious about the metaphysical.
In 2021 I decided to create a business around energy healing and my two other passions: Animals and Geology. My online shop, Casshoo Reiki, was named in honor of my dogs Cassidy and Shooter, who were the trigger to this exciting new journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t a smooth road, but it wasn’t rough either. There has been a steep learning curve because this is a completely different line of work, and I had to learn everything, from the craft to the logistics of creating and having a business. But it has been beyond exciting to have the opportunity for the fist time in my life to create something that reflects my values. I have the freedom to shape my work in the way it feels best for me, plus I get to support others in their own spiritual and personal journeys.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Reiki Practitioner for people and animals. I offer Distance Reiki Healing sessions, and because Geology is still my passion, I sell energy-infused crystals online.
I think what makes me different is that I am basically a newbie to the metaphysical, so my language and approach to spirituality is one without the frills and weird scripts that come with the classical “woo woo”.
My remote sessions are ideal for introverts or people who are very new to Reiki. Clients have the freedom of experiencing Reiki in the comfort and privacy of their homes, so they feel safe in an environment they can control, hence feeling more open to receiving the energy.
Remote sessions are also very handy with animals, because they receive the healing in their safe space, away from the stress of a commute or visit to a strange place. Animals are not judgemental, so they are more open to energy and enjoy these sessions greatly!.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I believe everyone has the ability to access energy and an heal themselves. I want to make energy work more accessible and approachable to people who are new and curious to these healing modalities.
I want to bring awareness and help others see the energy there is everywhere we do in our lives, even in the most mundane of things we do every day.
And I want to help people learn how to work with those tools in a way that positively impacts their lives.
