Conversations with Ashley Alvarado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Alvarado

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
GlowAli blossomed my senior year of high school, as I prepared to go out to the real world. I sat down with myself and asked what I really wanted out of life and that was to become an entrepreneur, being able to create my own schedule is such a gift I will never take for granted. I graduated with my cosmetology license which opened a lot of doors for me, I also started connecting with various MUA artists in the Houston area that allowed me to work with them such as Cassiepromua & Benni Beauty, thanks to these amazing artist I became knowledgeable. At just 18 years old I also expanded myself and became part of Sephora, who I consider family now, going into 2 years this September and all I can say is WOW the growth is real! I’ve met various brand experts and colleagues who’ve advised me the correct way in life. GlowAli is a beauty bar who currently offers makeup artistry classes, makeup services, along with micro blading. There’s many NEW services making their way into the business this upcoming year. I can’t wait to share what’s in the works!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In all honesty GlowAli has had its ups and downs. When I first launched I had no idea of what I was capable of and where I was going. Not every interaction with a client resulted in booking a services, which I came to realization the first months finding my right clientele took a while but it wasn’t possible. 2 years into GlowAli and i’ve expanded my clientele, knowing who I want to target with a clear plan has allowed me to fully show what my beauty bar is here for.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ashley Alvarado CEO of GlowAli. I am a makeup artist who is in college to become a Registered Nurse. I am known for being in the beauty industry from a young age (17), for assisting MUA’s, I also post ootd & my lifestyle on my main page @a.shhleyy which the girls love!
I am mostly proud for creating the life I am dreamed of from a young age, especially being a first generation latina! I am here to set an example to my siblings and everyone who’s starting off from scratch. I have one thing to say and it is SI SE PUEDE! I hope to continue growing my GlowAli as I plan on combining my healthcare knowledge with the beauty industry in the years to come.

What sets me apart is the attitude I carry myself with. I am very “if I want it, I can have it” I don’t quit until it’s mine! Everyone i’ve met knows I put my mind to it. It can be a project to expand or a personal goal of mine.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Stop being shy! Get out of your comfort zone! As a first generation latina I was always afraid of speaking up, especially when English isn’t my first language. I’ve learned over time to let it go and trust god as well as the timing. Sign up for the networking event, interact and show you for you. Strangers support more than loved ones. I learned the hard way!
