Meet Jim and Lisa Jenkins of Jenkins Sunshine Farm in Montgomery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim and Lisa Jenkins.

Jim and Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our business started with a few farm animals and soap. It has grown to over 500 animals, an herb and vegetable garden, an aquaponics greenhouse and a full line of skin care for everyday needs.

We are open to the public and offer a wide range of amenities to our community including fresh eggs, seasonal produce and our skin care line. We do offer a farm tour to visitors. The tour includes a guided walk through the herb and vegetable gardens, the animal habitats and the aquaponics system. Families and large groups are welcome and tour information is available upon request.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Farming is always a challenge. There are no days off but the rewards far exceed the downside. We work hard and learn from mistakes everyday. We have been blessed with the ability to sustain a lifestyle that is healthy and fulfilling.

Because we live on our farm, the commute is great and at the end of the day, dinner is always fresh.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jenkins Sunshine Farm – what should we know?
Established by Jim and Lisa Jenkins in 2006, the business is located just outside of Montgomery Texas. The farm is a sustainable operation that is open to the public and offers a wide variety of consumable amenities. The purpose and goal of the business is to provide the community with healthy alternatives for daily living.

The skin care line is the larger part of the business. All the products are formulated, tested and distributed from the farm. Each item is made, by hand, from scratch. The plant-based ingredients are researched, selected and purchased with the intent to create quality products for the entire family.

Our company is concerned about and dedicated to its customers and the environment. We strive to offer an exceptional product line that is safe for families. Our products are rich in content so as to allow less volume per application. We minimize packaging to avoid excess waste and we package in recyclable materials to reduce our foot print.

Sunshine Farm is Texan owned and Texan operated. We pride ourselves in work ethic, perseverance and strength in community and family. Customer service is what we do and the customers we serve is why.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our customers are our secret weapon. We are constantly seeing new people because someone told them about us.

We do very little advertising and its word of mouth that keeps us going.
