Check Out Lail Robinson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lail Robinson.

Hi Lail, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As many photographers I was introduced to photography by my Father. He was an excellent photographer that was published in Ranger Rick for several pictures he took at the Gladys Porter Zoo. I got my first camera when I was 12. I got my second camera in Junior high and began taking sports photos. In high school I was on the yearbook and school paper staff. I was also able to get a few high school sports pictures into the local paper. As I got older and my career and family required more time I stopped taking photos. I started again several years ago and formed my business in 2024. I specialize in food and still life product photography.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The thing about a freelance photography business is that photography, actually shooting the picture only accounts for less than 25% of your time. It’s all of the business activities that take the other 75%. Things like marketing, etc.. As you know everyone has a camera in their pocket today in the form of their phone. Additionally, artificial intelligence is able to produce images now and they’re pretty good in some cases. The advantage that the freelance professional has is no one can be them. We all see the world slightly different and express that through our pictures.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Still life product and food photographer.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a clinical exercise physiologist.
