Hidden Gems: Meet Michael Holt of J AND B FINANCIAL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Holt.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career in insurance as a salesperson for Farmers Insurance in 2007. I was hired by a friend that attended the neighboring college (Texas Southern University) to my school ( The University Of Houston) .

I progressed from Sales Person to Sales/Marketing manager to eventually operating and owning my my own office to being the current President of the entire company.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles I had to face was being homeless during six months of building my career. Due to a series of foolish mistakes I made I found myself living in a Super Eight motel for six months. In hindsight, I was blessed to have the resources and support I did to be able sustain a motel lifestyle for six months. I am currently a homeowner in the Clear Lake area near Nasa.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own a company called J And B Financial . We offer a variety of services that includes property and casualty insurance,income tax services, and small business consulting.

Our company is big on supporting community and educational initiatives from non-profits. Some of the organizations that we have had the opportunity to volunteer with or support have been The University Black Alumni Network, The Aggie Impact Initiative, The Rotary Club Of Space Center, The Houston Area Urban League, and Jamie’s Hope.

We feel that investments in community helps to build stronger communities.

What’s next?
My future plans are to continue to grow my company, build more relationships in business and continue to contribute to community.

We are currently working on expanding our service offering to our clients . We are planning to do so by offering income tax resolution services for people with IRS issues.

We are working on starting an intern program for college students.
