Meet Kayla Bernard of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Kayla Bernard aka KayB aka Star Bernard was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and raised in Houston, Texas, where she’s called home for over 20 years. A true multi-hyphenate, KayB is a dedicated mother of three, a successful entrepreneur, and a rising force in the music and entertainment industry.

She began her career in property management and real estate at just 18 years old, building her own portfolio of rental properties while also launching her tax preparation business in 2014. Alongside her business ventures, KayB discovered her passion for music and entertainment. After attending her first bounce show in Gulfport, Mississippi, she began networking, promoting, and marketing in Louisiana & Houston’s vibrant scene, collaborating with names like SavageLife Unit Derrick Johnson Rapper Webbie Brother and producer TPAT of Houston Heartbreaks.

Driven by her love for creativity and her natural hustler’s spirit, KayB & 4GM Denim co-founded an independent label, writing and recording music while helping to develop new talent. Her first EP reflects her journey, resilience, and dedication, laying the foundation for bigger moves ahead in the entertainment industry.

Above all, KayB is a mother first — her three children are her greatest motivation. Whether in real estate, entrepreneurship, or music, she embodies ambition, determination, and a commitment to leaving a legacy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned that timing is everything and God always guides my steps. Along the way, I’ve seen the good and the bad that comes with networking in this industry. The truth is, sometimes it feels like people don’t want to see the next person win — too much hate, too much ego, and too many folks looking to get paid before they actually help.

But I’m not one of those people, and I’m not the type to play games. If I say I’m going to do something, I back it up with action and put my money where my mouth is. I believe in being real and pointing people in the right direction, because that’s what real success is about — helping others rise, not holding them back.

I’ve crossed paths with a lot of people, and even when it felt like nobody pointed me in the right direction, I kept pushing forward. At the end of the day, I’m not to be underestimated. I’m not the type of woman you can play with, and I refuse to get caught up in fake hype. My focus is on building, hustling, and creating something real — for myself, for my kids, and for my legacy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Queen KayB , better known as Queen KayB is the definition of a hustler, a mother, and a visionary. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised in Houston, she built her empire from the ground up without ever depending on handouts. With three kids as her motivation, she moves with purpose, respect, and resilience — always creating opportunities instead of waiting for them.

In business, KayB is a force. She’s a Regional Property Manager overseeing two apartment complexes, the founder of Evolve Tax & Real Estate Group, and the owner of multiple rental properties. Her entrepreneurial spirit doesn’t stop there — she’s helping her daughters build their own brands, launching Princess Kylie Couture Clothing Closet while also developing a fragrance line for her daughter Princess Kylie D. Prince.

In music, Queen KB is making her mark. With her debut EP Starmy, she’s showing the world her voice, her story, and her grind. She’s not just an artist — she’s building a label, managing talent, and pushing herself and her circle to new heights. For her, music, real estate, and entertainment are more than passions — they’re investments and legacies.

No matter the lane — real estate, music, fashion, or business — Queen KB proves she’s a true jack of all trades. Everything she touches, she flips. Everything she sets her mind to, she executes. With her drive, connections, and relentless hustle, Queen KB is unstoppable.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Even though most of my journey has been independent, I do want to acknowledge and salute the few people who have supported me along the way. TPAT of Houston Heartbreaks gave me opportunities early on and helped put me out there with shows. SavageLife Supa Unit has also worked with me here and there, and I appreciate those experiences.

I’ve also had the chance to do promo and marketing with Luc Belaire, supporting Rick Ross and the Belaire brand. The CEO himself even showed love by featuring me on the official Belaire Instagram, which was a big moment of recognition for me.

To everyone who has supported me, believed in me, or shown genuine love along the way — I appreciate you and salute you. People who know me know I’m real, I’m genuine, and I move with respect. And while most of my grind has been self-driven, those few who stood beside me along the way will always have my gratitude.
