We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ayo Ogunseinde. Check out our conversation below.
Ayo, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
cooking. recently found it therapeutic
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ayo Ogunseinde, a Nigerian-born photographer specializing in fashion and portrait photography. With almost a decade of experience, I’ve transitioned from a hobby to a serious pursuit, working with brands like Polo Ralph Lauren. I’m currently planning a street photography trip to Mexico for National Geographic, and my next goal is to host a gallery show to share my work with a wider audience.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My beautiful wife and I lost our child to an ectopic pregnancy. This experience made me realize I am not immune to bad things happening. It was a humbling experience that taught me not to take the good things in life for granted.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
He did things without overthinking and wasn’t afraid to fail.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Sometimes bad things just happen and aren’t trauma, and not everything is a lesson. Sometimes you just fail, and that’s okay.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stop unhealthy habits so I can go enjoy things I can’t do because of my weight.
