An Inspired Chat with Ant Boogie of Sunnyside

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ant Boogie. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ant, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Meditation, stretching, counting and be grateful for my blessings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ant Boogie of Sunnyside, Houston, TX. My company is called HVMpire (which is basically HV Empire!!). It is the hub for my many businesse ventures including High Volume Music Live (my concert venue), High Volume Music Radio (My Radio Station) High Volume Music Recordings (My Label), Collective Hallucination featuring Ant Boogie (my band), Ant Boogie Wear (my clothing and tee shirt line), Sunnyside Posse Mgmt, Marketing and Promotions and Jacob’s Home for Men, (my boarding home for vets and men with mental issues and homelessness).

I am currently working on a new EP with my band, figuring out how to get YaZarah (an artist) to Houston and on my stage and I am also working hard to get help Jasmine Crockett and other Texas Democrats keep their seats in the TX House..

I workout a lot. I have a home gym called Uncle Tony’s Home Gym. Health is wealth and I have been titled the ambassador of health and happiness in my neighborhood. I’m an avid cyclist and walker. I am truly a health nut and fanatic…I love it and I love me for loving it!!
I walk an average of 20,000 steps daily!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My father Jacob Frazier. He was a great man and teacher. He not only taught me about working, but he taught me how to be a great husband and father. I owe my attitude towards work all to my father. He was the best. He passed away in 2004, but I keep the memory of him alive every single day.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. During the pandemic. I had to shut down my concert venue. That almost broke me financially.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I value Black Women and I admire their strength and resilience. Black women are the foundation in which the strength of America has been built. I love women, period. With that being said though, the Black women is the mother of life. I work everyday to uplift and protect my Black Sisters at all costs..

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
In the we hours of the morning when I wake up. I wake up at 3am every day and I rise and shine to get my day started. The first 2 hours of the day are very important to me. I also feel a strong, strong sense of peace when I go home to my wife. We’ve been together 29 years and married 23 years. She means the world to me. We have not had an argument since 2015 and we love it like that. She’s a devout Jehovah’s Witness and she practices what she preaches to keep peace in the home. Her religion brings us close. I’m not a very religious man. I have more spiritual based beliefs, but my honey and I make it work.
I always tell folks it’s hard for me to be super religious because I have a “potty mouth” and on any given day I have to listen to some DMX or NWA..LOL..Not around my wife of course..
The other moment I feel most at peace is with my dogs Jazz, Left Eye and Maxwell. And also when I sit alone and think about my son and daughter, Prince T’Challa and Brittney, and how proud I am of them both..
As you can see, Peace is a major part of my journey..
