Meet Elly Brown of Uptown with Elly Brown in Tomball/Cypress

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elly Brown.

Elly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started blogging back in 2015, or that’s at least when I started taking blogging seriously. Since then it has been one crazy ride. Blogging has many up’s and downs. It’s a lot of work, it’s wearing multiple hats, all a while being creative and still running your business.

It takes, nothing but grit and determination (along with a little bit of thick skin) to make it in the blogging industry. Three years ago Uptown started with just my husband and I not really knowing anything about photography, SEO, or coding. Heck, I still don’t know much about coding, but I am slowly learning! Back then, we didn’t even know what ISO and shutter speed meant.

Three years later, after having hired photographers, staying up late into the wee hours, I am where I am today. I by no means feel like I know it all, or have learned it all. But to see how much I have learned and far Uptown has come reminds me that you will always reap what you sow.

Has it been a smooth road?
Oh gosh, no. Not at all. I have spent many, many nights figuring out SEO, how to install things, figuring out technical issues. And so much more.

Again, when it’s just a one-man show, it’s all on you. That I think is the hardest thing to do. It’s to manage your time and figure out what needs to get done.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Uptown with Elly Brown story. Tell us more about the business.
Uptown with Elly Brown is a Houston Lifestyle brand. I’m a busy momma living life by day with my three little ones, sharing my story and passion along the way. I started my blog in order to escape from the madness of life and to be able to connect with other women, like me, who have a love for faith, fashion, beauty and everything in between.

I specialize in fashion, beauty, and motherhood. The single most thing I am proud of Uptown as a company/brand is meeting the women I have met. The fact that these women trust me, means everything to me.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I honestly can not answer that. I would love to one day have a line of some sort, but I’m just trying to get through today.
