herbb Borders shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
herbb, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What battle are you avoiding?
Honestly, the battle I’ve been avoiding is thinking I gotta carry it all by myself. I’m used to being the one with the vision, so I try to do everything … create, plan, execute — and it piles up. But doing everything solo don’t scale. It just leads to burnout and isolation. What I’ve been learning is: real growth comes when you trust the right people, delegate, and let your system breathe. So now I’m focused on building a structure that doesn’t just depend on me, but a team in harmony
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by Mr. NoFiction/ The Sarge In Charge. I’m a multidisciplinary artist and creative strategist — everything I do sits at the intersection of music, metaphysics, and mind-body alignment. My brand is about self actualization over escapism — turning inner chaos into clarity, sound, and substance. I don’t just make art, I present solutions that help people feel more present, powerful, and connected to something deeper. Right now, I’m focused on storytelling through sound and launching offerings that realign you with yourself. I’m not here to sell a dream, I’m here to remind people they’ve always had the keys.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
it depends if we are talking Platonic or Romantic.. In Romance Disconnection happens when emotional expression isn’t received or reflected — like when one partner doesn’t feel seen, felt, or responded to. Over time, unspoken needs, dismissiveness, or misattuned energy (especially during vulnerable moments) creates distance, even if love is still there. It’s not always about big betrayals sometimes it’s the little misses that pile up. For Platonic Trust breaks when authenticity is met with indifference or judgment. Miscommunication, lack of reciprocity, or feeling like one person is always carrying the emotional weight can slowly erode closeness. etc..
What restores connection.. whether romantic or platonic — is consistent emotional presence, mutual vulnerability, and shared effort. When people feel safe to express even their awkward or “insecure” truths and those moments are met with real warmth, care, and follow-through, the bond deepens. Restoration isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being responsive and choosing to show up, especially when no one’s watching. That’s what makes someone feel truly seen.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear of loneliness- which is ironic because it has been a self fulfilling prophecy at the expense of my own time. Trying to make sure everyone i care about grows with me , is an idealistic fantasy that often led to my own detriment. Being afraid of Losing what i have, When i should have only been afraid of betraying myself spiritually.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. Hence Mr.Nofiction lol .. I am a multifaceted personality. But I always present myself in ways that are in alignment with my morals , and being in environments where I can thrive being myself.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Psychology, cognitive functions, and polarity. Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and existential matters. these are all my daily guidelines , and moral codes i filter information and perspectives through.
