An Inspired Chat with Safia Jafri

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Safia Jafri . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Safia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I enjoy reading a lot. I am also part of a book club with a group of my friends. The goal of the Book Club is to read a variety of different novels, fiction , non-fiction, Autobiographies etc and also authors from various countries with different sensibilities.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Safia Jafri and I am a teacher. I’m also a business owner. My Learning Center is called Eye Level learning Centre for Math and English. We have kids as young as three years old, all the way up to high school. Our Math Program covers both Basic thinking Math and critical thinking Math and in English we offer both grammar ( ELA) and writing. I enjoy my profession as it amalgamates two of my favourite passions – education, and working with children.
Eye Level Learning Center is a supplemental education center that offers a comprehensive and systematic approach to learning for students of all ages and abilities. The center’s philosophy is based on the principles of self-directed learning, where students take ownership of their learning process and progress at their own pace

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my father has shaped me into the woman that I am. He always believed in me and imparted the wisdom that education is not just about earning degrees but being successful in your day-to-day life and being able to navigate the complexities of relationships , friendships and family values

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
In my family, most of the people that I was surrounded by always held a routine 9 to 5 Job. I was a little sceptical about starting my own business. Entrepreneurship was something that seemed daunting to me but once I took the leap of faith, I realised that fear can be overcome by just Believing that you can do it, and if failure comes, that’s part of your challenge. Learn to face, fear, not avoid it.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
In my real life, I can be an introvert and prefer solitude, but my public persona challenges me to be an extrovert

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I don’t know how to swim. That is something I will regret, not doing if I don’t learn today.
