Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kaylia Capri of Houston

Kaylia Capri shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kaylia , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 mins of my day looks really calm (with at least 1 dog hair on my lip because my furbaby likes to creep in and lay on my head) . You look out the window and it’s the dusky hours. The atmosphere makes you want to get up, brush your teeth, wash your face and hit the gym! Every real athlete knows your best bod is unlocked during those wee morning hours.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I know everyone has began feeling that intense heat this summer is to bring. You can blame that on the Capri Sun ☀️ (sorry, not sorry). My name is Kaylia Capri and I’m the first ever Born, Bred, ga dead Bahamian woman to become a Professional wrestler. I’ve had a crazy journey up to this point, I began at the top promotion in the world. Where this new story began. From there I was recognized throughout the entire world, literally. Never in my life would I think I’d be requested all the way in Turkey. This job has been a blessing I never knew I was working towards. Being from The Bahamas you never have any idea a job like this would be a possibility. Yet, still I Rise

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
This question when dealing with Kaylia Capri, needs to be asked backwards. I was always who I had to be, the world just wasn’t ready. I’ve always worked towards having total confidence in myself. If I’m to be a role model I have to fill some big panties. I’m a xs but I wouldn’t even let that stop me.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yes, I almost gave up many times actually. It’s something that comes with wanting more for yourself. In those moments is where I found myself. It’s always the person that quits that actually fails. I had to accept in this life we aren’t perfect, nor should we attempt to be. I’ll just be happy being me, and evolving into the best versions me.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Very few people agree with me on the fact that this era is built off of a large majority of inauthentic people who used to draw attention. I used to wonder why did older people always resent change so much, till I realized how certain changes actually impacted how we perceive the world around us. People are finding it harder to differentiate between real and fake, and they are finding themselves more accepting of anything new, trendy or perfect to judge.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me is that no matter what I never switched up. No matter my financial circumstances, or personal experiences. I have values and morals that I stand by because it’s all about the person I will to be.
