ADETOLA ADEYEMI shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
ADETOLA, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. When was the last time you felt true joy?
LAST WEEKEND
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is DJ Teemoney, and I’m one of the co-founders of Teemoney Entertainment. We’re an event-based brand based in Houston, with plans to expand all across America. What makes our brand unique is our commitment to pushing African culture to the forefront through music, vibes, and unforgettable experiences. We’re passionate about creating spaces that celebrate and amplify Afrobeat and African-inspired events. We’ve got some exciting new events in the works—so stay tuned, because we’re just getting started!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people are broken by things like mistrust, poor communication, and unresolved conflict. They’re restored through vulnerability, forgiveness, empathy, and consistent effort to rebuild trust and connection.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Yes, I do remember. It was a moment when I really needed to be heard, and the person didn’t interrupt, judge, or try to fix anything—they just listened with full attention. It made me feel seen, understood, and valued. That kind of listening is rare, but it’s powerful.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I’m chill, easy to talk to, relatable, and supportive. What you see is what you get—I try to show up as my authentic self in every space, whether it’s business or just vibing with people.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
To be honest, I don’t really worry too much about what people will say when I’m gone—people will say whatever they want. But I do hope the story they tell is filled with good things. That I was genuine, brought good energy, supported others, and made a positive impact in my own way.
