We’re looking forward to introducing you to Isaiah Vaughn . Check out our conversation below.
Isaiah , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day starts around 8 a.m. when I get ready to head work. I work through the day until 5 p.m., and when I get home, I make sure to reset by taking a shower and going through my skincare routine. After that, I like to focus on personal projects, such as writing scripts, practicing monologues, or I’ll relax by playing games or watching TV. It’s a nice balance of productivity and downtime that helps me stay energized and creative.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Isaiah Vaughn, and I’m an actor based in Houston, Texas. Acting has been my passion since childhood. I first stepped on stage in kindergarten and never looked back. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to portray a wide range of characters, from Barack Obama and Rumpelstiltskin to Martin Luther King Jr.
After graduating high school, I shifted my focus to film, where I’ve had the opportunity to dive into diverse and challenging roles. I starred as Braylynn, an orphan searching for belonging, in Kasi, and most recently brought to life Drew Peterson, a med student with a dark side, in Deadly Escape. Both films were written and directed by Lakisha Lemons, and each one pushed me to grow as an actor.
With more projects ahead, my goal is to continue stretching my craft, expand beyond Houston, and ultimately establish myself in Los Angeles as a Hollywood actor. Deadly Escape is streaming now on Amazon Prime and Tubi, and it’s only the beginning of the story I’m building through my career.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the most about work, not just the importance of working hard, but also the value of finishing what you start and doing the job right. I’ll never forget my mom sharing a quote that was passed down from her grandmother around the value of hard work – “If a task is once begun, never leave it until it is done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all.” And that is how I choose to approach each job I am offered the opportunity.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve been on several auditions over the years, and no matter how prepared I am, I still get nervous. There was one audition in particular where I put in a lot of work on the script and built up confidence through practice, but when the moment came, I completely fell flat. That experience shook me, I lost a lot of confidence and even considered giving up. It took time to rebuild that confidence, but what I learned is that not every audition will go my way, and that’s okay. What matters is getting back up, continuing to practice, and always striving to get better.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The version of me that I share with the public is truly who I am. At my core, my foundation lies in God and in my family. Those are the two things that keep me grounded no matter what opportunities or challenges come my way. My faith gives me direction and purpose, and my family gives me strength, accountability, and love.
I’ve always been nerdy, always smiling, funny, and determined, and that’s not an act, that’s me. I don’t believe in putting on a mask for the public or pretending to be someone I’m not. I’d rather people see the real Isaiah: a young man who loves to laugh, who works hard, and who trusts God to guide his steps.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I would spend the ages building knowledge so that one day I could share everything I’ve seen and learned with others.
