Hi Anastassia , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
The last time I felt joy was going graphic novels shopping with a few of my friends in Brooklyn. I’m obsessed with graphic novels and any day I get a chance to get some is a great day for me!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Anastassia, but in the music and art world, I go by Saywordstaz. For the past three years, I’ve been creating and performing music. It’s been a journey that’s been nothing short of amazing for me. My sound blends boom baband jazz hop, bringing together a soulful vibe. I get to express myself through music it’s therapeutic for me and I’m able to share good vibes to my supporters who enjoy what I do.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My music mentor, Ski Beatz, recognized my full potential from the start. He saw that my determination and drive weren’t just qualities they were the fuel that would help me excel in music.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to never give up, to trust that there’s always light at the end of the tunnel, and to truly appreciate the little moments. It showed me the value of being present no matter my state of mind im in.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I’m the same person in public as I am behind the scenes, I can’t fake the funk. What you see is exactly what you get.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m lost in a good graphic novel or making a beat in my home studio. Creating in my own space lets my imagination roam free and that’s where I find my true peace.
