Story & Lesson Highlights with Nyquan Sennett of Texas

We recently had the chance to connect with Nyquan Sennett and have shared our conversation below.

Nyquan, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m relentlessly chasing my dreams because I know they’re within reach if I’m willing to fight for them. If you don’t pursue what sets your soul on fire, you’ll never know the power of what you can truly achieve. Every step I take is with purpose, ensuring I turn every dream into a victory. If I stopped chasing my dreams, I’d feel like I’m just fading into the background, powerless to make a difference, to help, to inspire, to create. I refuse to be in the shadows. I was born to be in the spotlight, to shine and make an impact.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Quannthemodell, or simply “Quan.” For the past eight years, I have worked as a dedicated freelance model, a path inspired by a lifelong passion that began in childhood. I officially launched my modeling career in December 2018, debuting alongside industry talents such as Hope Watkins and Key Atkins. At the time, I balanced an intense schedule—working eight-hour days, attending college, serving as a Resident Advisor (RA), and modeling on weekends.
Throughout my career, I have been honored with several accolades. In 2019 and again in 2021, I was awarded Male Model of the Year by Tiffney Wilson. In 2023, I received the Model of the Year award at the Down for the Underground Awards.
My work has been featured in a variety of esteemed publications, including 180 Lyfe Magazine, Bold Journey, Heart of Hollywood Magazine, Voyage Houston, Voyage Dallas, Voyage LA, and Beautiful & Dauntless (May 2019), among many others. One of my proudest milestones was being featured on the New York Times Square Billboard in 2023. In 2025, I had the privilege of appearing on the “Latachie Ann Talk Show,” winning Model of the Year at the BEA Awards, and being featured once again in Voyage Houston.
I expanded my journey by stepping into the role of model coach, mentoring aspiring models from around the world. Today, I continue to build my brand and legacy—all as an independent artist, without agency representation. My journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of self-belief.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before I ever stepped in front of a camera, I was a kid with a calling—to lead, to serve, and to inspire.
From a young age, I found purpose in giving back. I was actively involved in organizations like the Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, and Young Life—places where I mentored, supported, and uplifted kids who reminded me so much of myself. Watching them grow, dream, and find their voice reminded me of my own journey, and I knew I wanted to be a role model they could look up to.
That passion for people followed me into college, where I became a Resident Advisor at both Blinn College and Sam Houston State University. It wasn’t just about managing dorms—it was about building a community. I supported my peers, encouraged personal growth, and helped create an environment where students felt seen, heard, and empowered.
Those efforts didn’t just build community—they built character. I became known as someone people could count on, and that reputation led to one of my proudest moments: being crowned Homecoming King at Blinn College. Not because I was the most popular—but because I was present, impactful, and committed to making a difference.
Every step of that journey—from mentoring kids to empowering college students—shaped the person I am today. Modeling may be my platform now, but inspiring others will always be my purpose.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
For a long time, my biggest fear was putting myself out there.
Walking into rooms full of strangers, standing in front of a crowd, taking up space where I wasn’t sure I belonged—that scared me. I used to hold back, convincing myself I’d try next time, or that maybe it just wasn’t my moment.
But I’ve learned something powerful: fear only wins when you let it silence your potential.
Even now, I still get nervous. I still feel that quiet voice inside that asks, “What if you’re not enough?” But I’ve learned to respond louder—with action, with courage, with belief.
Because if you want to grow, you have to step into uncomfortable spaces.
You have to walk into rooms where no one knows your name—and show them why they should remember it.
Every dream requires risk. Every purpose demands presence.
Not every door will open. Not every room will welcome you. But the right ones will—and when they do, you have to be ready.
I’ve stopped waiting for the perfect moment. Now, I create it.
I no longer ask for permission to show up—I just do.
And if the door isn’t for me? That’s okay. I’ll keep walking until I find the one that is. Because I believe in who I am, where I’m headed, and what I bring to the table.
The moment you believe in yourself, everything starts to change.
Not because it gets easier, but because you get stronger.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If you asked my closest friends who truly matter to me, they wouldn’t hesitate to say it’s them—and honestly, they’re right.
The bonds I’ve built with my friends mean everything to me. These people in my life aren’t just friends—they’re my heart’s safe place. They inspire me, love me unconditionally, and accept me exactly as I am.
I’m so deeply grateful for this circle of people who see me, understand me, and stand by me through everything. My best friends are my rock—my anchor when life feels overwhelming. They remind me of my worth when I forget it myself, and they show me every day why our connection is so special.
I cherish every moment we share and every word of support they give, and I hope they know I hold them just as close in my heart. With them, I’m more myself than I ever thought possible, and that kind of love is everything.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Instead, I’d dive deeper—doing more, trying new things, and creating memories I never imagined.
I want to fill every moment with experiences that I can carry with me for the next ten years and beyond. Regret doesn’t have a place in my story anymore, because what do I really have to lose?
I’ve lived fully, carving my own path filled with growth, challenges, and unforgettable moments. Every breath I’ve taken, every morning I’ve woken up to, is a gift—and I’m endlessly thankful for the chance to live, to learn, and to keep pushing toward better days.
Life is too precious to hold back. I’m here to embrace it all—without hesitation, without fear, and with a heart wide open.
