Pam Roussell on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Pam Roussell. Check out our conversation below.

Pam, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Several months ago I joined the Arthur Murray studio in my town in order to. freshen up my country western dancing skills. It’s been three and a half years since I got divorced and moved, and since then I have spent time pretty much hibernating, healing and working on personal growth. By March of this year I felt I was ready to explore fun social things. Because I love dancing, getting professional training was appealing so that I could feel more confident going out with other studio members to local dance halls. I have met some great friends from the studio, and to my surprise and delight, one of those friendships has developed into a beautiful relationship. His name is John, and we are truly a match made in heaven. We spend weekends dancing and enjoy spending quality time together. He brings so much joy into my life in ways I have never experienced in any previous relationship, including my marriage.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Ten years ago I started Purrrfectly Holistic with the mission of helping cat parents provide a more holistic approach in supporting their cats. Like many other pet industry professionals, it all started with a pet. In my case, my cat, Snowbear, died unexpectedly after receiving a round of vaccinations required for boarding. His loss devastated me, and it began a journey of discovering my purpose and what I was put on this earth to do. A year and a half later I began my company and have been privileged to be able to work with cats using a holistic approach while guiding and supporting their parents on the journey.

Because I am not a vet, I don’t use conventional methods. Instead, I work in energy and frequency, looking at things from emotional, physical and spiritual perspectives.. It’s also very important to find and address the root cause of issues, not just treat symptoms. Using this approach, true healing can happen. And this is how we can promote longevity and wellness for our beloved feline family members.

I obtained my board certification from the Associate of Drugless Practitioners for Mind Body Spirit Release, and I also have a certification for a modality called Holistic Wellness Approach. In addition, I use muscle testing and energy testing with all my clients.

We have an online store dedicated to cats and holistic wellness, offering a variety of products as well as services for both pets and pet parents. Our online presence is found on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, offering monthly online live events with interviews, presentations and Q&As.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was young I was a very shy girl who always followed the rules and didn’t question things. Fast forward to around 2004 when I experienced true healing for an injury using Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. Before exploring alternative healing I had been using conventional methods for months to try to heal a foot injury with no success. I was so blown away by the results it began my journey exploring alternative and holistic health, herbs, homeopathy, nutrition, detoxing, cleansing, muscle testing and energy healing work. My eyes were opened to how much deception there has been from Big Pharma, Big Foods, government agencies, and even organized religion.

Now I question everything. I ask lots of questions, and I don’t listen to the main stream, popular narratives. I question authority and look for things like “who benefits?” and “follow the money.” There are so many natural cures out there, but you really have to search because they have been suppressed for decades.

In recent years after learning about energy, frequency and vibration and things like the law of vibration and law of attraction, I discovered how powerful and intuitive I am. This changed everything about how I look at the world and how things really work.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to listen to that quiet, inner voice inside of you–this is your spirit guiding you and is always trying to move you in the right direction. Therefore, sometimes you have to stop listening to the world around you and stop caring about what other people, including family, may say or think about you. Follow your heart.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that we should just trust people in positions of power or influence over others. Now I don’t. For example, I no longer tow the party line, take information or instructions on blind faith. This would include listening to doctors, government officials, non-governmental organizations, teachers, employers, etc. I question everything and always ask, “who benefits?” If my spirit is warning me that something is wrong or “off” somehow, I always pay attention and make my own decisions. I no longer let others influence my decisions.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I have come to learn in recent years is that we are all spiritual beings having a physical, human experience. The lessons we are learning in life were what we chose to experience before coming into this life, and the people and pets we go through life with all agreed to play roles in this process. When you understand this spiritual perspective it can make understanding the lessons a bit easier at times and sheds light on why things are happening FOR us, not TO us. It also drives me to figure out the lesson so that I can move forward.
