Story & Lesson Highlights with Brittany St.James

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Brittany St.James. Check out our conversation below.

Brittany, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My sister recently got engaged and made me the maid of honor.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brittany St. James Boatner, and I’m a multi-passionate creative and professional building a career at the intersection of healthcare, fashion, and lifestyle branding. I work in the dental field while also modeling and running my brand BBWithATwist—a platform where I bring cooking, wellness, and beauty content to life with a unique, engaging twist. What makes my story special is my ability to balance excellence in patient care with the creativity of content creation and modeling. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my brand presence, sharing healthy living through fun, accessible recipes, and continuing to model in projects that allow me to express confidence, elegance, and authenticity. My journey is about inspiring others to embrace all sides of themselves—professional, personal, and creative—and showing that you don’t have to fit into one box to thrive.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world layered its expectations on me, I was simply a bold and curious girl who believed she could do it all. I wasn’t worried about fitting into boxes or proving myself—I just moved through life with confidence, creativity, and a love for connecting with people. That version of me dreamed big without fear, dressed up in whatever made me feel alive, and didn’t second-guess if I was “too much” or “not enough.”

As I’ve grown, I’ve realized that version of me was the purest reflection of who I truly am. The world tried to shape me into someone safer, quieter, and more “acceptable,” but stepping back into my essence has been the real power move. Today, through modeling, my brand BBWithATwist, and the way I show up in my professional career, I’m honoring that original version of myself—the girl who was fearless, expressive, and certain she was meant to make an impact.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain the moment I realized silence was keeping me small. For a long time, I carried things quietly—fears, disappointments, even the pressure of trying to always look “put together.” But pain doesn’t go away just because you tuck it behind a smile. It builds, it lingers, and eventually it demands to be seen.

The turning point for me was when I chose to be transparent with myself first. I learned that acknowledging my struggles didn’t make me weak—it made me human. From there, I began to use those same experiences as fuel. In my career, in modeling, in my brand, I channel what I’ve been through into confidence, authenticity, and resilience. My pain became power when I realized I wasn’t meant to just survive it—I was meant to use it to shine brighter, inspire others, and remind people that strength comes from every scar you refuse to hide.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold is that you don’t have to choose just one lane in life to be successful—you can build a fulfilling career, create art, grow a brand, and still protect your personal joy. A lot of people believe you need to hyper-focus on one path and sacrifice everything else, but I’ve learned the opposite. My strength has come from embracing all of my sides—my professional career in the dental field, my modeling, and my lifestyle brand BBWithATwist.

What most people don’t see is that balance isn’t about dividing yourself thin—it’s about letting every piece of you feed the other. My creativity makes me better at my career, and my discipline at work fuels my artistry. I believe the world needs to stop telling people to shrink into “just one thing” and instead encourage them to be as multi-layered as they naturally are. That’s where the real power is.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What light inside you have you been dimming?
For a long time, I dimmed the light of my creativity and self-expression. I thought I had to tone myself down to be taken seriously, whether in my career or in life. I muted parts of myself—my boldness, my style, my voice—out of fear of being “too much.”

But the truth is, those were the exact parts of me that made me powerful. Modeling, building BBWithATwist, and stepping into spaces where I can be unapologetically myself have taught me that my light isn’t meant to be hidden—it’s meant to inspire. I’ve realized that when I stop dimming who I am, I don’t just shine brighter for myself—I give others permission to shine too.
