We recently had the chance to connect with Nickyy Danger and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nickyy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity. Intelligence is something that can be taught and Energy can be replicated or replenished. Integrity is a trait or moral most people today do not possess. It’s much more valuable to me and my process.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Nickyy Danger. First and Foremost, I’m a loving father and Husband. My family is my greatest collaboration I’ve ever taken part in creating. The single driving motivation for every song I design, preform, build, and cherish.
Currently I am making a long overdue return to creating my OWN music as well as developing new facets/avenues to help expand Artists I’m managing. I own and operate a small studio named Madd Ox Studios (Named after my first born, Maddox) where I make original beats, record multiple Genres and offer basic services to help artists achieve true Independence and grow understanding in their craft and the business aspect surrounding it.
I suppose my brand has one real goal and purpose. All Love Always. We help where we can and desire to see our community of musician brothers and sisters succeed at all costs.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Definitely my ego. It never served as good of a purpose as I gave it credit for. A defense mechanism or a validation of some kind believing I needed to prove I belonged, that I should be in the pantheon of the greats before/around me, some imaginary position or possibility of status. Instead of loving myself I ran towards the crowd failing to realize my greatest strength was being far from ever “fitting in”. That my heart and nature as a fun loving, passionate person is powerful and to be utilized. To accept there is a necessary grind and fall back in love with the process with said grind. Humility has been key.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. I’ve been on a two year hiatus. Pretending music wasn’t calling out in my soul. All because of a bad experience with a few individuals I trusted. I believed they saw the vision of what I was trying to build while I was trying to build it. Honestly it was my mistake to trust selfish children with something I spent my life caring about and crafting. I have no one to blame but myself for believing in people who showed me nothing. I removed my family, business and self from all of the negative and took a major break to regroup and rediscover the drive and dream I had long before any of those people were in the picture. I’ve learned true family is key. Strangers will always have agendas (up to you to decipher if those are acceptable or manageable). Over preparation is under development. Most importantly Humility will walk the thousand miles that arrogance can’t.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
With me, what you see is ALWAYS what you get. I change for no one, I have love for everyone. life is too short to pretend for anything or anybody. I will speak my mind and never shy away from a civil discussion and/or disagreement. However I come from people who taught me well, I have class, I show respect. You can disagree with me and I’d never hate you for it. I would respect you giving true thoughts. Criticism good or bad is an Artists greatest tool to move forward
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace after finishing a day of great work, musical and/or the other businesses I tend to, coming home to my five children and wife, tucking them in and getting to watch old familiar movies with my wife (Tara)
