Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Lau.
Hi Tina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved art and grew up spending hours drawing and painting. Initially, I was pursuing a career in animation, but everything shifted when my uncle, who is a wedding photographer, gave me my first DSLR camera. After helping him at a couple of weddings, I was completely hooked. Photography allowed me to combine everything I loved: art, storytelling, and connecting with people. In 2010, I started my own business, and I haven’t looked back since. I feel so grateful to have found something I truly love to do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. One of the biggest challenges for me has been maintaining a healthy work-life balance, especially since weddings and shoots often take place on evenings and weekends. Over time, I’ve learned to pace myself and organize my schedule so I can give my best to clients while still having time to recharge.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I offer wedding photography, elopement coverage, and engagement sessions. I focus on capturing real unposed moments — the laughter, happy tears, and in-between moments that often go unnoticed. My goal is to create images that look beautiful and feel deeply personal.
Connection is essential to my work. I take the time to get to know my couples, their personalities, and what matters most to them. That trust allows me to capture their authentic energy, and many clients tell me their photos feel true to who they are, not staged or forced.
It is incredibly meaningful to see clients return for family photos and other milestones. Being part of their story over the years is something I truly value.
Above all, my goal is to create more than just images. I want couples to feel the emotions of their day every time they look at their gallery, years from now.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as building a life around something purposeful. For me, that means doing what I love for a living and capturing real moments and milestones in people’s lives. Success is also about cultivating meaningful relationships, doing work you care about, and feeling at peace with where you are.
