We’re looking forward to introducing you to Vanessa Fernandez . Check out our conversation below.
Vanessa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Running helps me lose track of time and truly find myself again. It allows me to connect with nature, clear my mind, and ease my anxiety. There’s something so freeing about it I can run for hours and feel amazing afterward, both mentally and physically.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Vanessa, the creator behind Vanessa’s Adventures, where I share my love for discovering new foods, fun experiences, and hidden gems around Houston. My goal is to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones, try something new, and see how much joy there is in exploring their own city. Through my fashion, I also love encouraging women to express themselves freely and feel confident in their own skin.
I’m always working on creating new content and finding cool new places around Houston to share with my audience. Something many people don’t know about me is that I’m deeply immersed in content creation it’s truly my passion. Beyond my own page, I also manage Stuff to Do in Houston and Attorney Brian White’s social media, so you can definitely say I’m all about social media all the time!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I’d say both of my parents taught me the most about work. They came to the U.S. from Bolivia to build a better future for their kids, and watching them adjust to a new country learning English, working hard, and never giving up showed me what true dedication looks like. Their example taught me the value of independence, resilience, and hard work, and it’s why I’m always striving for more in everything I do.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
For a long time, anxiety held me back especially when it came to driving. It used to make me so anxious that I couldn’t go anywhere alone and had to rely on others to get around. Over time, through therapy, self-belief, and pushing myself little by little, I began to overcome that fear. This year, I finally started driving on the freeway, which was a huge milestone for me. Facing that fear taught me that even the hardest things can be accomplished, and now I feel freer and more confident than ever.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Family means everything to me. No matter what’s happening in life, staying connected, supporting each other, and showing up for my loved ones is something I’ll always protect.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly feel like I’m doing what I was born to do. For a long time, I followed what I thought I was supposed to do, but now I’m finally expressing myself freely and doing something that feels true to who I am. Through my Instagram page, I believe I show more women that so much can be done when you believe in yourself and take chances. I love inspiring people of all ages and reminding them that age doesn’t define what you can achieve what matters is having the courage to chase what makes you feel alive and fulfilled.
