An Inspired Chat with Ana Torres of Humble

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ana Torres . Check out our conversation below.

Ana , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes of my morning, honestly. Some days, I wake up to export galleries or send galleries, get ready and take my kid to school. Some days, my first 20 mins I sit down and pray to God to give me strength to continue being the best in any of the roles I have, then get ready and head to school with my kid. My first 90 mins of my day is usually starts early morning around 5am or 6am.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, hello friends. My name is Ana Torres. I am a Houston photographer. My business name is Josephine’s Blessed Photography. I am mainly focus on life well; families, maternity and children. I photograph from birth all the way to funerals. Every moment of life is precious. The sad, the bad and the good. However, being a mom of three kids and being married for 9 years. Life is bittersweet but it’s such a blessing.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I don’t have just one moment, I have many.

As a child, I experienced being called ugly and hearing others laugh at my pictures. As a teenager, I found comfort behind the camera, photographing school events and scrapbooking memories to show future classes what Student Council was about.

After feeling the pain in front of the camera and the joy behind it, I realized how valuable moments truly are.

I started my business a few months before getting married, and now, three kids later and with one angel baby in heaven. I’ve experienced beautiful pain, sad pain, growing pain, and love that hurts deeply.

The world is so much more than what we see around us. Images tell stories and when captured with heart, they reveal the emotion within each moment.

Every season, every trial, and every joy has helped me see the world, this imperfect, perfect world in a different light. And through my lens, I’ve learned that each direction life takes us is another chance to experience its beauty.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Just this question makes me cry. What would I say to little Ana? The baby version of my self would get all the hugs, the child of myself would get kisses and kind words of saying don’t stop dreaming. Don’t stop smiling. The preteen version of myself, it’s not your fault. You are strong. Keep pushing!
I am writing this 2 days after my birthday.
I am sitting down vaguely remembering, the first picture I took. I think my younger self never thought this would be the career we would have taken. There is a point i wanted to be a soldier, a teacher, a secretary and even a mechanic. However, God truly open doors and here we are. Snapping moments! Only God knows why I am here in this moment in life. I am not the best, but little Ana. You’re doing it! All those tears, God turn them into blessings and experiences to be able to love on others. Keep smiling!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is faith and family: the foundation that shapes how I live and raise my children.

I don’t involve myself much in politics. It’s not that I don’t care; I just choose to focus on what’s right in front of me: my home, my kids, and the kind of people they’re becoming. My biggest concern isn’t debates online, but making sure my children have what they need to succeed and grow into kind, responsible, and respectful people.

My beliefs may not always align with the world around me, and that’s okay. I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that discipline, modesty, and personal accountability matter. These are my truths, even if not everyone agrees with them.

Still, my beliefs never determine how I treat others. I can disagree and still choose love, grace, and respect. That, to me, is how faith should look lived out protecting my values while showing kindness to those who see life differently.

Love is the best trade and a smile.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is simple…..
she was the girl with the colorful glasses who never stopped smiling.
She gave more than she received. She went all out for the kids and always did the most to make every occasion special.

In every role, she was love.
Even when she was tired, she still gave 100%.

Ana, the friend.
Ana, the mother.
Ana, the children’s church teacher.
Ana, the Family Association representative.
Ana, the photographer.
Ana, the wife.

The woman who loved deeply and as honestly as she could.
The woman who reflected God’s love.
