Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Mcclenon.
Hi Asia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my journey toward becoming a psychotherapist as a nursing major at Prairie View A&M University. Due to family circumstances, I changed my major and began exploring various therapeutic modalities and mental health services. Through this research, I developed a genuine interest in the field of psychotherapy and decided to pursue it as a career. I was drawn to the profession because it offers both the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives and the flexibility to build an independent practice without the need to attend medical school.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to this point in my career has not been easy. Learning the various therapeutic theories while also understanding the business aspects of the field required significant dedication and perseverance. The process has been both time-consuming and financially demanding, as I have invested in numerous trainings and professional development opportunities to build a strong foundation for my practice.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

I owe much of my success to my grandmother, Gloria McClenon, whose unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental throughout my academic and professional journey. She encouraged me to pursue higher education, assisted with my college applications, and ensured that I remained focused on my goals while minimizing distractions. Her wisdom and dedication continue to inspire me both personally and professionally.
In addition to her influence, I am grateful for the mentorship I have received from numerous professionals in the field who have guided, challenged, and motivated me to grow as a clinician and as an individual.
