We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alicia Angst. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Alicia, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is more important to me than intelligence or energy. My first name literally means truth or truthful. I try to live up to that. Integrity matters because then you know you have placed your trust with the right person.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alicia Angst. I am a native Houstonian and a photographer. I have had a camera in my hand since 110mm film was a thing and my camera was neon pink. I love taking photos and capturing the moments of a child’s smile or a pet’s snuggle. The in the moment seconds where you wish you had it on camera, but you are focused on what’s going on. I tend to focus on a lifestyle photo rather than a posed photo. Animals do not always pose and neither do kids. They need a flexible setting like a playground or a walk around a pond to get real expressions. I have done a lot of work as a ringside photographer in the hunter/jumper horse show world. I am working on my own style so that I can offer one on one local photography. I have worked with cats, dogs, donkeys, horses, mules, guinea pigs, and chickens. I have also done high school senior photography along with other events.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me about working. Work is what you do to provide for your family and it is also a passion and a part of you. Give it your all and never give up.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
2020. I thought it would be my year and then the world shut down. It also triggered some major health issues along with panic attacks. I kept going and will keep going by the grace of God.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My faith. I am a born again, baptized believer in Jesus name. My faith is my heartbeat.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
My belief in God and my walk with Him.
