Michael Brumfield of Houston, TX on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Brumfield. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Michael, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When i start a project and I’m ready for the outcome I will work on it until its done, with time having no meaning. But when things slow down i snap out of it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Michael B. – an artist by birth, with creativity in my DNA. I began my journey drawing cartoons, then transitioned into graphic design and photography some years later. A few years after that, I found my groove in filmmaking, and it’s been my focus since 1998. I think the thing that makes me stand out is that I’ve come from a place of genuine, raw talent – it’s been the heartbeat of my artistic path.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that truly opened my eyes to the harsh realities of life was a devastating fire in the early 2000s that stripped me of everything – my photography gear, music equiptment, and film equipment. To make matters tougher, I also lost some friendships in the process.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d say, “Hey, playa! Listen up, I’ve been down that road. I gotta tell you, stay the course – it’ll all work out. Everybody’s get their turn.”

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d say, “Getting the job done right – done correctly to the client’s specs.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m not entirely sure what my true calling is, but I’m doing what I love to do.
