We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is most important to me. In my business, relationships and reputation mean everything. Clients need to know they can trust me. Intelligence helps me navigate complex markets, and energy keeps me driven, but integrity is what builds the long-term partnerships that truly matter. Integrity will keep doors open and relationships strong.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Angie Wooten, and I’m the founder of Lit In Texas, an energy brokerage dedicated to helping both businesses and individuals make smarter, more informed energy decisions. After spending 15 years in the industry, I saw firsthand how confusing energy contracts and rates could be. I wanted to create a company that made the process simple, transparent, and personal.
At Lit In Texas, we work with all the major suppliers to secure the most competitive electricity rates for our clients. But what truly sets us apart is the way we do business. We build genuine relationships and focus on honesty and trust. Our goal isn’t just to get a good rate; it’s to make sure every client feels confident and cared for every step of the way.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what breaks the bonds between people most often is a lack of honesty and genuine communication. When people stop being open, misunderstandings grow, and trust slowly fades. I’ve seen it happen in both life and business. It’s something I work hard to prevent. At Lit In Texas, relationships are everything to me. I’ve built this company on integrity because I truly believe your word should really mean something.
It’s about being real. When people know your intentions come from a good place and you consistently follow through, that’s when trust and connection come back even stronger.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to trust the process and believe in her own strength. Life won’t always go as planned, but every challenge is shaping you into who you’re meant to become. Don’t be afraid to take risks, speak up, or stand on your own, even when it’s uncomfortable.
I’d remind her she’s capable of more than she realizes, and that setbacks are really just lessons in disguise. I catch myself thinking often, “If I’d only known that back then!” lol. Most importantly, I’d tell her to lead with kindness, stay true to her values, and never lose that spark that makes her unique. It all works out and it’s worth it.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I believe the public version of me is the real me, just a little more polished. I try to stay honest and down to earth, whether I’m working with clients at Lit In Texas or spending time with family and friends. Being genuine builds trust and keeps me grounded. The same person leading a meeting is the one laughing at the dinner table and that consistency is what makes life, and business, feel real.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, I feel most at peace at home with my husband and boys. Our home is our sanctuary. It’s a place filled with laughter, quiet moments, and the kind of comfort that makes everything else in life feel manageable. Anyone who has spent time with us here would probably agree. There’s a calm, welcoming energy that just settles over you. It’s in those moments, whether we’re enjoying a simple dinner together or just relaxing in the evening, that I feel truly content. Life really couldn’t be better.
