We recently had the chance to connect with Jaybangzz and have shared our conversation below.
Jaybangzz , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Of course, I would definitely hire someone like myself. My motivation, hustle, and work ethic is unmatched. I strive to be the best I can be not only in something I’m working on but on everything that comes across my path.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
To introduce myself well, I go by the name of Jaybangzz. I love creating new things whether it’s dropping a new clothing item or creating music. I feel like my clothing represents the city of Houston well. I try my best to always have a piece of new clothing dropping.
Also, I recently just dropped my latest album called “No Love Zone”. The album is basically like talking about recent relationships I’ve experienced. I really just wanted to tell my story somehow so I felt like expressing my feelings in 7 songs helped me work through a lot of my dark moments. I’m grateful for my homie Jay Zano he helped me put this project together from beginning to end. He’s actually featured in 2 songs, one of them being my favorite track called “Guard Up”. It contains one of my favorite lyric ever saying “ Thought it was love na it was just lust can’t be slipping I got two kids now
ain’t been perfect I’m in therapy right now”
Honestly you just have to listen to it to get the complete feel you know. I know my album is great because I feel like I’ve found my sound through recent years and it’s pure. Everything I state on that album is a true story, and it contains what I feel like everyone has experienced before which is love, betrayal, and hurt. I just ask everyone to listen to the album once and you’ll rock with it.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Well this one is an easy one because that would be my father. I feel like my father taught me most about work. I remember being like 10-15 years old or so and my dad would make my brother and I go outside and rake leaves and cut the grass and dig up tree trunks and what not. He always told us you work hard to play hard meaning we work for what we want in life whether it’s something small or big. I’m grateful for those moments because it shaped me into the man I have become as far as the work ethic and never give up on something my minds set on. I’ll always remember when he continuously would say “Do it right the first time, pay attention and remember safety first”.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I feel like my fear was always failure, I always feared of trying my best at something and failing. As a father of 2 now I have the mindset that failure is not an option. Another thing I’ve always considered is the feedback from others. I’ve always been worried or afraid that others would judge what I do. I’ve learned that it’s just part of life and you can’t and won’t satisfy everyone. Either they are with you supporting or leave them on the sideline watching.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say so, in my opinion. I really just don’t be showing too much on social media you know. I like to keep my private life private but I do show who I am in certain posts. For the most part, I feel like my social media shows off more of my business than my character.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Well, I feel like a lot of people would have a lot to say about me mostly great things I would hope. I know one for sure being that I’ve always been the type to help others without asking for anything in return. There were times when I didn’t have everything situated or figured out with my life but when someone I care about needed my help, I was almost there. Also, I know those who are close to me would show the goofy side of me. When I’m gone, I hope that people remember the positive energy and good vibes I would bring. I wouldn’t say I was perfect, but I’ve always tried my best to be better every day.
