Sonia Medrano shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sonia , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, I find joy in experiences that help me grow and reconnect with myself.
Staying active, traveling, and learning new skills bring me clarity, balance, and a sense of purpose beyond work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a real estate investor and developer based in Houston. Our work focuses on identifying and developing projects that create sustainable, long-term value.
We invest with integrity, discipline, and purpose, seeking not only strong results, but also a positive impact on the people and communities we work with.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Losing my father and going through a lot of loss changed my life.
It taught me resilience, perspective, and how important faith is during hard times.
Those experiences helped me grow, value people and time more, and keep moving forward with gratitude and strength.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I changed my mind about failure after going through real setbacks. I used to think it meant I wasn’t capable enough.
Over time, I learned that failure is part of growth. It builds experience, strength, and clarity for future projects, relationships, and life decisions.
It also taught me to trust God more and keep moving forward with faith, even when the path isn’t clear.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire God for the values He represents, love, humility, integrity, and service.
Those values guide how I live and how I work. They help me make honest decisions and treat people with respect.
To me, real character shows in how we act, especially during challenges, and how we stay grounded no matter the level of success.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I lived with faith and integrity.
That I trusted God to guide my path and used the opportunities I had to support others and add something positive to their lives.
That I led with heart, stayed grounded, and always tried to show up with kindness and respect.
