We recently had the chance to connect with Ron Thompson and have shared our conversation below.
Ron, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
The most thing I’m proud of building that nobody sees. Is my family.!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi name is Ron. I’m the CEO of ScndClss (2nd Class) Skateboard company. We are located in Houston Texas. We cater to the Skateboard community. We take pride in being from the south, the third coast to be exact the meaning of the brands name second class is to never give up hope in a face of adversity. That’s what we’re about. We don’t give up we keep fighting no matter what. I’m what you call a lifer a lifer is somebody who’s gonna skateboard for the rest of life and that’s me in my Skate team it’s our passion is what we do and we take it serious.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was me (Ron) before the world told me who I was supposed to be. I didn’t listen to the world so I still remain myself Ron a black entrepreneur who came from humble beginnings and is going to build something for people who look like me I will always remain myself in any situation the world doesn’t make me.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was a time I wanted to give up when I was sitting in prison didn’t know which way to go was I going? Was I coming? I learned to self reflect and decided not to give up dug deep within myself. Came up with a game plan and we still in the game today so giving up may come across your mind at times but it’s not an option.

When you see me in public, that’s me being me my authentic self. I don’t know how to be anybody else but myself so yes that’s the real me..
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me. Is he is a very hard-working man very passionate. He had a love-hate relationship with people he loved them, but then he hated their ways at times.. He will give the shirt off his back for you. He just loved life. He never quit.
