We recently had the chance to connect with Ama’ray Frazier and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ama’ray, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of my career, spending time in nature and learning new skills that can correlate and contribute to what I do is the best type of joy to me and it’s something that I cherish everyday.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ama’ray Frazier and I also go by Ray. I’m an artist who specializes in a multi array of media, including; acting, directing, screen writing, song writing, rapping, costume design, set design, prop making, martial arts, management, fashion design and so much more. In everything I do, it is made from a place of care and love. In a world where everything is more about business than passion, I commit to staying focused on creating work that matters and will change the lives of people who experience it. Christ is the way that leads me to every idea, moment, experience and opportunity and sharing that within my circle is very important to me and an honor to do each and everyday. I have 4 projects that are currently in the works and those consist of, (an album), (sci-fi short film), (5 part horror series) and a (clothing brand). I’m blessed to be able to take on these amazing endeavors and one step at a time, they will become a reality.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with Jesus Christ shaped me and molded me into the young man and artist that I am today. Christ showed me a way, even when I thought there wasn’t any and he continues to guide my steps and mind into new things, new places, bigger opportunities and bigger ways to project my voice and vision, just how I prayed for.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every time things get hard and it feels like your back is against the wall, that’s when giving up creeps in and begins to take control but Christ always comes in and reminds us that we are all called to complete and conquer over that hard task and that’s when you get back up and do it better than the enemy wants you to because when God says it’s happening, believe it.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the only me because God only made one man within me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
My work is heavy, spiritual, real, raw, authentic and controversial and I’ve grown to understand that most will overlook it, unsee it, criticize it and disagree with it but after life altering experiences and years gone by, people will come around to honor it, understand it, enjoy it and believe in it because that’s what powerful projects that are built around Christ can do.
