Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Madrigal.
Hi Amy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story really began when my husband and I became teen parents to twin girls at the age of 16 and 18. At that point, everything shifted—we had to grow up quickly and figure out how to build a stable future for our family. It wasn’t easy. We faced financial challenges, uncertainty, and a lot of pressure, but we made a decision early on that we were going to work as a team and not let our circumstances define us.
That mindset carried us through some of the most difficult seasons. While I pursued a career in healthcare, starting as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), then obtaining my RN and Bachelors in Healthcare Management, my husband and I supported each other every step of the way. There were long days, sacrifices, and moments where we had to push through, but we always kept our shared vision in mind—to create a better life for our family.
Working as an LVN gave me a strong clinical foundation and exposed me to the realities of patient care, especially in long-term care settings. As I continued to grow in my nursing career and step into leadership roles, I began to notice a gap—so many people wanted to enter healthcare but didn’t have access to the right guidance or opportunities.
That realization led us to create M&A The Academy of Caregiving in 2024. What started as a vision has grown into a full training academy offering CNA, Medication Aide, Phlebotomy, and Medical Assistant programs. Alongside that, we built M&A Healthcare Staffing to help connect trained professionals with facilities in need.
Everything we’ve built has truly been a team effort. From the very beginning, my husband and I have worked side by side to turn our challenges into opportunities—not just for ourselves, but for others in our community.
Today, my mission is rooted in those early experiences. I’m passionate about helping others build careers in healthcare and showing them that no matter where you start, with the right support, vision, and determination, you can create something meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There were times where it felt overwhelming, especially in the beginning. Becoming a teen parent meant we were figuring out life while already being responsible for someone else’s. There was no real safety net—we had to learn quickly, make sacrifices, and keep going even when we were unsure of what the next step looked like.
There were moments of real struggle—financial stress, exhaustion, and trying to balance everything at once. We were building our careers, working long hours, raising a family, and later trying to build a business from the ground up. There were nights I questioned if it would all come together, and days where things just didn’t go as planned.
Starting and growing a business brought a different level of pressure. There were challenges with funding, filling classes, navigating regulations, and just learning as I went. A lot of it was trial and error, and not everything worked the first time. It takes a level of resilience that you don’t really understand until you’re in it.
But through all of that, what kept me grounded was knowing I wasn’t doing it alone. My husband and I have been in this together from the very beginning. We’ve had hard conversations, tough seasons, and moments where we had to lean on each other just to keep moving forward.
Those struggles shaped me. They made me stronger, more resourceful, and more intentional about what I’m building. So no, it wasn’t smooth—but it was worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
M&A The Academy of Caregiving was created to open doors. At its core, we are a healthcare training academy focused on helping individuals start and advance careers in healthcare, especially those who may not have had a clear or traditional path into the field.
We offer programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medication Aide, Phlebotomy, and pre-nursing preparation. But what really sets us apart is that we don’t just train students—we guide them. We focus heavily on building confidence, professionalism, and real-world readiness so our students are not only able to pass their exams, but also succeed in the workplace and continue growing in their careers.
We specialize in creating clear career pathways. Many of our students come in unsure of where to start, and we help them map out a plan—from CNA all the way to nursing and beyond. That “start here, grow here” model is a big part of what we’re known for.
In addition to training, we also operate M&A Healthcare Staffing, which allows us to connect our graduates directly with job opportunities. That bridge between education and employment is something I’m especially proud of, because it creates immediate impact for both our students and the healthcare facilities in our community.
What truly sets us apart is our level of support and relatability. I’ve been in my students’ shoes—I didn’t start with everything figured out. Because of that, we lead with understanding, mentorship, and high expectations. We create an environment where students feel supported but also challenged to grow.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the reputation we’re building in the community. We’re known for producing competent, compassionate, and job-ready graduates. Our brand represents opportunity, second chances, and upward mobility.
What I want readers to know is that we are more than a training program—we are a stepping stone. Whether someone is just starting out or looking to level up in healthcare, we provide the tools, support, and pathway to help them get there.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are several ways people can work with us, collaborate, or support what we’re building.
For individuals interested in healthcare careers, the best way to work with us is by enrolling in one of our training programs. We offer a clear entry point into the field, along with the guidance and support needed to move forward with confidence.
For healthcare facilities, we welcome partnerships through our staffing agency, M&A Healthcare Staffing. We provide trained, reliable CNAs and support staff, and we’re always looking to build strong relationships with facilities that value quality care and dependable professionals.
We’re also very open to collaboration with schools, community organizations, and workforce programs. Whether it’s creating career pathways for students, hosting workshops, or connecting individuals to funding opportunities, we believe in working together to expand access to healthcare careers in our community.
For those who want to support our mission, simply sharing our programs, referring students, or partnering with us can make a huge impact. Every connection helps us reach someone who may be looking for an opportunity to change their life.
At the end of the day, we’re building more than programs—we’re building pathways. And we’re always open to connecting with people who want to be part of that vision.
