Meet Oscar Zendejas of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Zendejas.

Hi Oscar, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As the year 2023 was coming to a close I was reflecting on myself to determine what my next step in life should be. Through divine intervention the idea of massage therapy came to mind. I was reluctant at first because for one, I was unsure if I would even make a good therapist, and two, if I would even like the job itself, but the desire to help others was always there.

The more I meditated on the idea, the more my heart was telling me that this was the right move so I toured the school that I eventually attended and I immediately felt that this is where I needed to be. I enrolled right away and within a week I was a massage student. I graduated first in my class, completed my internship and acquired my license by October 2024.

In January 2025 I started laying the foundation for my business. I collaborated with others on a name and logo and soon after Zen by Zendejas was born and the rest was history.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Certainly not for me. The biggest hurdle so far has been letting the world know I exist and why they should choose me as their massage therapist.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My style of massage specializes in combining modalities such as Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Lomi Lomi. Based on comments I’ve received from different clients, my style is a unique approach because it combines a soothing and relaxing flow without skimping on the firm pressure needed to help alleviate pain and increase range of motion in tight/sore muscles.

I’m most proud of the patience I’ve had in not giving up on myself or my business goals. Pushing through the lows and being grateful for the highs isn’t always easy.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Uplifting others and making a positive impact in people’s lives.
