Conversations with NaQuina Marks

Today we’d like to introduce you to NaQuina Marks.

Hi NaQuina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started event planning and decorating as a hobby, simply helping with events for my children, family, and friends. I’ve always had a natural ability to look at a blank space and envision what it could become, and I found so much joy in bringing those ideas to life.
What truly led me here is my spirit of servitude and my love for acts of service. I genuinely enjoy making people’s lives easier, especially during moments that are meant to be celebrated but can often feel overwhelming. Event planning can be stressful, and I wanted to create an experience where my clients could feel at ease and fully enjoy their special moments.
Over time, what started as helping loved ones grew into something much bigger. From weddings to birthday celebrations to corporate events, I realized that this was more than just decorating—it was about creating memorable experiences and meaningful moments.
My business is rooted in creating beautiful, seamless, and memorable experiences. I take pride in being both a visionary and a problem-solver, ensuring every event feels effortless for my clients while leaving a lasting impression on their guestsToday, I take pride in transforming my clients’ visions into reality—often exceeding what they imagined. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the smiles on their faces and knowing I played a part in making their event effortless, beautiful, and unforgettable.

The busines started off as Limbrick’s Fine Events and Catering. Limbrick’s is my grandmother’s maiden name. She is my inspiration for my values in this business. She taught me to always be kind and do right by people . ” Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” Luke 6:31. We are blessed to be a blessing.

I started the business with my brother, who is a chef.-hense the ” Catering” portion in the name. He eventually ventured into his own culinary endeavours but we still resources each other for events. I chose to keep the name and just make it “Limbrick’s”… Limbrick’s can serve as whatever the clients may need. Its like an ellipsis; Limbrick’s can be whatever you need.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Being a Louisiana girl in Houston, I didn’t come in with a large network or a built-in clientele, so building connections from the ground up was a challenge. While I genuinely enjoy people and interacting, I’m naturally a bit reserved, which made putting myself out there and promoting my business to strangers feel uncomfortable at times.

I also dealt with a lot of internal doubt in the beginning. Not having formal training made me question myself, even though I knew I had the talent and the eye for design. There was always that fear of wondering if people would trust me with their vision, especially when they hadn’t seen my work in person. I found myself second-guessing more than I should have.

But those challenges pushed me to grow. I learned how to step outside of my comfort zone, build confidence in my abilities, and let my work speak for itself. Over time, as I continued to deliver and create memorable experiences, trust started to build; both with my clients and within myself. And that’s been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the creative behind Limbrick’s . I curated décor , balloon designs and full event experiences, from weddings to upscale social gatherings. I’m known for my ability to layer textures, colors, and design elements in a way that feels cohesive, refined, and luxurious. But beyond the aesthetics, I’m known for creating an experience where my clients feel cared for. I understand that planning an event can be overwhelming, and I make it my mission to ensure the process feels effortless and enjoyable.

What truly sets me apart is the intention behind my work. I don’t just design events or balloon decor, I design experiences with purpose, precision, and care. My spirit of servitude allows me to anticipate needs, create solutions, and go above and beyond in ways that feel personal and elevated. I love providing a little something extra to bring that extra love or detail to have the clients say” wow, I would have never thought of that”.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that might surprise people is that, while my work is very bold, detailed, and expressive, I’m actually naturally reserved. I’m not the loudest person in the room, and I don’t always seek the spotlight.

I am a jokester at heart and I love to solve riddles- like brain games.

I am such a science geek- my customers wouldn’t know that…lol
