Check Out Savannah Reyes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Reyes.

Hi Savannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been pulled into photographs — captivated by the way a single frame can hold an entire feeling, an entire moment in time. But when my first baby arrived in 2022, that love found its purpose. I became completely captivated by the tiny details — the curve of a hand, the shape of tiny lashes, the way little fingers wrap around yours. I wanted to remember all of it.

That obsession turned into a camera, and the camera slowly turned into a calling.

When my daughter was born in 2023, it deepened everything. Motherhood had a way of showing me how quickly these seasons move, and how fleeting the little things really are. Then in 2025, my husband was diagnosed with stage IV cancer — and again, time took on a weight I hadn’t fully understood before. Suddenly, every ordinary moment felt sacred.

That’s the heart behind Studio Brae. I’m not just photographing families — I’m helping them hold onto what matters most, because I know firsthand how much it matters. Every session is built around slowing down, being present, and preserving the sweetest days of motherhood before they pass.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t always been smooth — but I think the hard seasons are often the ones that shape you most.
Early on, I struggled to find my place in the photography world. There are so many beautiful photographers and so many styles, and it took time — and a lot of unlearning — to trust my own voice and build something that felt truly mine. Studio Brae is a reflection of that process.

Then there’s the constant rhythm of motherhood and business ownership — two things that both ask for all of you. Learning to show up fully for my children and fully for my clients has been one of the most humbling parts of this journey. I’ve come to realize that “balance” doesn’t really exist the way we imagine it, but intention does.

And in 2025, when my husband was diagnosed with stage IV cancer, everything shifted. It’s been the hardest season of our lives. But it’s also given me a kind of clarity I wouldn’t trade — a deeper understanding of why this work matters. When you know how fragile time is, you stop taking any of it for granted.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Studio Brae is a Houston-based photography studio centered on motherhood — maternity, newborn, milestone, and family sessions for moms who don’t want to miss a single season.

My work is known for feeling authentic and true-to-life — soft, timeless, and real. I’m not chasing trends or heavy editing; I’m capturing families the way they actually are, so the photographs still feel like them years from now. It’s a style that’s become unmistakably mine, and I think it’s part of why families trust me with these tender seasons.

But what I’m really known for isn’t just the images — it’s how the experience feels. From the first inquiry to the final gallery, every detail is thoughtfully guided so my clients can simply arrive and be present. No scrambling for outfits, no worrying about posing, no pressure to perform — just space to slow down and be with the people they love.

What I’m most proud of is the way mothers feel inside my studio. So many women arrive nervous — worried they won’t know what to do, or won’t love how they look — and leave feeling seen, beautiful, and genuinely taken care of. That matters more to me than any single photograph.

What sets Studio Brae apart is the intention behind all of it. This isn’t a shoot-and-forget process. I’m not just capturing one moment — I’m walking alongside these families through pregnancy, newborn days, first birthdays, and everything in between. Many of my clients come back season after season, and those relationships are what make this work feel like so much more than a business.

At the end of the day, I’m preserving the sweetest days of motherhood — and I don’t take that lightly.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people probably wouldn’t guess that before Studio Brae, I helped my mom start and run her dog grooming business. For the first few years of Studio Brae, I was actually working there full-time and photographing on the side — nights, weekends, and any spare moment I could find in between. Those years taught me what it really takes to build something from the ground up, and honestly, a lot of how I show up for my clients today — with care, patience, and real relationships — I first learned working right beside my mom.
