Hidden Gems: Meet Katrina Johnson of OvaBloom Fertility Ultrasound & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Johnson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey really started with a passion for helping people and creating opportunities, not just for myself, but for other women and sonographers as well.

I’ve been a ultrasound technologist in women’s imaging for nearly 20 years, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of caring for thousands of women through different stages of fertility journeys, pregnancies, and health challenges.

As my experience grew, so did my purpose. I eventually built and grew my own ultrasound imaging business in Houston Texas, and along the way I also began teaching ultrasound students and mentoring sonographers who were trying to find their confidence and direction in this industry.

That part became very meaningful to me because I understood what it felt like to start with limited guidance and simply a vision, faith, and determination to build something greater.

After years 15 years of building my company, I made the difficult but rewarding decision to sell the ultrasound imaging business and step into a completely new season of life. That transition gave me time to reflect on what truly mattered to me and how I wanted to continue serving women in a deeper way. Through all my years in imaging, one thing became very clear to me: so many women are silently struggling with hormone issues, fertility concerns, stress, and reproductive health challenges while feeling unseen, uneducated, or unsupported.

That realization led me to create OvaBloom Fertility Ultrasound & Wellness.

I wanted to build something that felt empowering, educational, compassionate, and real. A place where women could feel comfortable having conversations about their bodies, fertility, hormone wellness, and overall health without shame or fear. I also wanted to bring together my clinical experience, my heart for mentorship, and my passion for wellness into one mission driven space.

Today, I continue mentoring sonographers while also helping women better understand their reproductive health through fertility wellness education, ultrasound expertise, and supportive care. This chapter of my life feels less about building a business and more about building impact, and meaningful connection within women in my community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but every challenge taught me something valuable.

When I started my business, I didn’t come from a business background. I was a sonographer. I knew how to perform ultrasounds, care for patients, and deliver quality services, but I didn’t know how to run a company. There wasn’t a roadmap sitting in front of me, and many times the answers I needed weren’t readily available.

I spent countless hours researching, asking questions, knocking on doors, and asking for advice. Sometimes people were willing to help, and sometimes they weren’t. There were plenty of mistakes along the way, and there were moments when I questioned whether I should keep going at all.

What kept me moving forward was purpose.

I’ve learned that entrepreneurship requires much more than a desire to make money. If money is the only motivation, it’s very easy to quit when things become difficult. There has to be a bigger vision attached to what you’re building. There has to be a mission that keeps you moving when the results aren’t immediate and the challenges feel overwhelming.

There were seasons when I felt discouraged, uncertain, and exhausted. Like many entrepreneurs, I experienced setbacks and disappointments that could only be learned through experience. But every obstacle strengthened my commitment to the work I was called to do.

Today, when I look back, I’m grateful for those struggles because they helped shape not only the business owner I’ve become, but also the mentor I am today. They allow me to encourage other sonographers, entrepreneurs, and women who are trying to build something meaningful of their own.

Success to me isn’t about avoiding challenges. It’s about developing the resilience to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t clear.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about OvaBloom Fertility Ultrasound & Wellness ?
What I’m most proud of is what truly sets OvaBloom apart. The vision for this practice was born from both my professional expertise and personal passion. As a board-certified sonographer with nearly two decades of experience in women’s imaging, I have had the privilege of walking alongside countless women during some of the most significant moments of their lives. From experiencing pregnancy loss to enjoying to sound of hearing their first babies heartbeat. Beyond every ultrasound image is a story- a woman navigating hope, uncertainty, challenges, and dreams for her future.

Those experiences revealed a need for something more. Women deserve more than appointments and test results. They deserve a safe space where they can ask questions, gain clarity, and feel supported throughout their journey.

At OvaBloom, we believe knowledge is empowering alongside women’s imaging. Too often, women are given instructions without being given understanding. Our goal is to bridge that gap by providing meaningful fertility education, wellness support, and resources that help women become active participants in their own health and fertility journey.

One of the foundations of OvaBloom is my commitment to compassion, trust, and service.
Whether someone is preparing for pregnancy, navigating fertility concerns, seeking hormone wellness support, or simply wanting to better understand her body, our mission remains the same: to provide education, encouragement, and guidance that empowers her to take the next step with confidence.

More than anything, OvaBloom is about helping women feel seen, supported, and empowered. We are building a community where women can learn, grow, heal, and advocate for their health.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is living a life that is fruitful, purposeful, and aligned with what truly matters. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that health, wellness, and time with the people you love are some of life’s greatest blessings.

As I’ve grown personally and professionally, I’ve become much more intentional about prioritizing my health and well-being. I believe that good health is one of the greatest forms of wealth. Without it, it’s difficult to fully enjoy the experiences, opportunities, and relationships that make life meaningful. Taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish at all. It’s an investment in the quality of our lives and our ability to show up for the people we love.

Family is another source of tremendous joy for me. Some of my happiest moments are the simple ones. Spending quality time with my loved ones, sharing conversations, creating memories, and being present for life’s milestones both big and small. Time is something we can never get back, and I’ve learned to value it more with each passing year.

What brings me the greatest fulfillment is knowing that I am living with intention, serving others through my work, caring for my health, and making space for the people who matter most. To me, that is what a rich and meaningful life looks like.
