Today we’d like to introduce you to Nataly Perez.
Nataly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I knew very early in life that I would have a career in the health field. I attended the DeBakey High School for Health Professions in the Texas Medical Center. Thus, my high school experience was a little different from that of an ordinary high school student.
During this time I was exposed to various medical rotations and preceptorships involving nurses, physical and music therapists, social workers, medical doctors, and even plastic surgeons. I continued my education at the University of St. Thomas, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Biology and Theology in 2007. I was also part of the Pre-Medical Program and actively participated in on-campus scientific research which later led to a position at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute and four published scientific articles.
I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College and obtained a second Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology in 2012. I completed internships at the Moody Health Center and was selected to participate in the Rice University Athletic Program, where I provided chiropractic care for student-athletes. My final off-campus preceptorship involved treating non-professional and professional athletes, including NFL players and Olympic athletes, which led me to follow a sports chiropractic specialty.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth having is easy, so of course, there were many challenges along the way.
Upon graduating as a chiropractor I took an associate chiropractor position with another clinic and quickly learned how chiropractic ideologies differ. I am really passionate about treating both the muscular and skeletal system and being focused on one patient per hour. I knew the only way to do this was to step out on my own and start my own chiropractic office.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Office of Dr. Nataly Perez story. Tell us more about the business.
I opened my own chiropractic office about 5 years ago and have not looked back since! I am a sports chiropractor and acupuncturist, however, I treat all patient types and conditions. Some patients may seek my help in treating an acute injury, while others may need help with muscular imbalances associated with everyday life (sitting at a desk all day, tech neck, weekend warriors, new parents).
I take pride in saying that each treatment plan is tailored to the patient. I allocate one hour per patient with no wait time prior to your session which is rare in today’s medical field. I want each patient to not feel rushed or forget what they wanted to ask me. I am approachable and can be reached via email or text by the patient if they have questions.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think hard work supersedes luck when it comes to running a business, however finding my location in the Heights came down to luck and a little persistence on my part.
Everyone wants an office or shop on 19th Street in the Heights. I’m lucky to be on this historic street with amazing small business neighbors.
