Houston has always had an artistic soul. The culture and heritage of our city, like most great cities, owes a tremendous debt to the arts community. Supporting local art is something we care deeply about and we’d like to do everything we can to help the local arts community thrive. Unfortunately, too often media attention is monopolized by corporate interests and tabloid gossip – but culture doesn’t come from a focus on celebrity breakups it comes from a focus on the arts.

I’ve always had a love for drawing since I was a child. I started drawing my favorite cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls, Totally Spies, etc., and eventually, I got into anime in middle school. If I wasn’t cutting my hair, I was definitely cutting my Barbie’s hair or a friend’s hair. I was always up for a challenge. Some subjects require a hard or concrete answer all the time and that sort of rigid nature doesn’t suit me very well. The open-ended and virtually infinite amount of things I can create through art appeals to me. Not only does drawing become a mode for a creative outlet, but it became my language and my own mark in the world that’s solely mine. It’s a vestige of me that really defines a great deal of my life.
