Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevo Aregbe.
Hi Kevo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In short, my story is from inmate to multidisciplinary artist. It’s not often someone who starts their life in the streets end up being an award winning Writer, painter, tattooist, and photographer – but here I am.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been tough, I’ve been to jail, shot, down, lost a lot of loved ones – including my wife in 2024, yet I live to be a good example of black men.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a playwright and artist, I have done something very unique in the theater world; Ive filmed 6 original stage plays within 2 years. I’m documenting a collection of Stage plays that are enlightening as well as entertaining.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up without parents, my mom was African American, my dad is Nigerian – so I’m a mix. I was raised by my aunt on my mom’s side. I always loved the arts. I feel like I was a writer before I got into painting, but I got my MFA in painting instead of writing.
