Today we’d like to introduce you to John Rascoe.
Hi John, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For years, music was one of the greatest ways I expressed myself. Through writing, recording, performing, and creating, I learned how to turn ideas and emotions into something people could feel. Music taught me discipline, creativity, storytelling, and most importantly, how to believe in the gifts I was given. But as I continued to grow, I realized that I was blessed with more than one talent—and one of those gifts had been sitting in front of me all along: cooking.
My transition from music to cooking isn’t about abandoning one passion for another. It’s about discovering where my creativity can have an even greater impact. The same energy I once put into creating songs, I now put into creating food. The kitchen has become another studio—a place where I can experiment, create, take risks, and turn simple ingredients into something memorable. Just like music, cooking allows me to tell a story without saying a word.
Today, I’m embracing cooking not simply as something I enjoy, but as a gift with the potential to become a business, a brand, and a legacy. My journey is about learning when to stop dividing my attention between every talent and start giving one gift the focus it deserves. Music will always be part of my story, but cooking represents where my journey is taking me next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not always been smooth. Transitioning from music to cooking has required me to step outside of my comfort zone and be honest about where my focus and energy needed to go. Music had been such an important part of my identity, so shifting my attention toward cooking sometimes felt like I was leaving a piece of myself behind. I had to learn that moving in a new direction did not mean that my past no longer mattered.
One of the biggest struggles has been learning how to trust the process. Starting over in a new creative space comes with uncertainty, self-doubt, and the pressure to prove yourself all over again. I’ve had to balance my responsibilities, manage my time, and continue developing my skills while figuring out how to turn my passion for cooking into something bigger—a business, a brand, and a legacy.
There have also been moments when progress felt slow and the path ahead was unclear. But those challenges have taught me patience, discipline, and resilience. My background in music prepared me for that in many ways. It taught me how to keep creating, keep learning, and keep showing up even when the results do not come immediately.
The struggles have been part of the growth\. They have helped me understand that success is not always about making a perfect transition; sometimes it is about having the courage to evolve\. Music gave me the foundation, but cooking is teaching me how to build something new with the same creativity, passion, and determination
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business blends creativity, passion, and flavor through cooking.Inspired by my background in music, I create memorable food experiences that are full of personality and heart. I specialize in bringing bold flavors and a creative touch to every dish, while building a brand rooted in authenticity, growth, and connection. What sets me apart is my ability to turn my journey of reinvention into food that tells a story.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe luck played a role in my life. Everything that I’ve done or created has been based off of my decisions, whether good or bad. I gained the level of notoriety and success that I have by hard work and determination. Not luck.
