Life & Work with Rico Davis of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rico Davis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been built on resilience, purpose, and a commitment to serving others. After overcoming personal challenges in my own life, I realized my greatest purpose was helping others find strength, hope, and inspiration. I founded the Salt & Pepper Gang (SPG), a movement focused on empowering men, supporting families, mentoring youth, and giving back to communities through programs, events, and meaningful conversations.

What started as a vision to bring people together has grown into a mission of Reach One, Teach One — reminding people that our experiences, wisdom, and stories can create a positive impact. Through SPG, we celebrate growth, leadership, compassion, and the power of making a difference one person at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth road. Along the way, I faced personal challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested my faith, strength, and determination. I learned that adversity can either break you or build you, and I chose to let my experiences become fuel to help others.

Building Salt & Pepper Gang came with its own challenges — creating awareness, gaining support, finding resources, and proving that a vision built around service and community could make an impact. Through persistence, partnerships, and staying committed to the mission of Reach One, Teach One, we continued moving forward.

Every obstacle became a lesson, and every challenge became another reason to keep serving others and creating positive change.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My professional journey has been built around leadership, entrepreneurship, media, and creating opportunities for others. I have experience in business management, content creation, transportation services, brand development, and community outreach. I am the founder of the Salt & Pepper Gang (SPG), a 501(c)(3) organization focused on mentoring youth, empowering men, supporting families, and serving communities through our mission of Reach One, Teach One.

Throughout my career, I have been known for building relationships, creating impactful conversations, and using my platform to inspire positive change. I am most proud of turning my personal experiences and challenges into a purpose-driven mission that helps others. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people from all walks of life, combine business with service, and create initiatives that leave a lasting impact.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there is one thing I would like people to understand, it is that every person has a story, and those experiences can be used to make a difference. Salt & Pepper Gang was created from a desire to bring people together, share wisdom, support one another, and remind people that it is never too late to make an impact.

My goal has always been bigger than an organization — it is about creating a movement built on service, mentorship, unity, and leaving a positive legacy for future generations. Through SPG, we will continue to Reach One, Teach One and inspire others to use their voice, experiences, and influence to help someone else.
