Life & Work with Anna Smith of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Smith.

Hi Anna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Rachel (co owner) and my self Anna, knew each other for several years before opening The BeautyBark. We had a combined 20 years experience in the pet industry. Considering our past experiences we’d seen enough of what the pet industry had to offer. We each explored our options but ultimately decided to come together and open a business of our own, with our love and passion for animals, we have built a community we are beyond grateful for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The rod has been alittle bumpy. Some of the biggest challenges are balancing being high volume business owners, as well as mothers. Work life balance has been a significant challenge. Something we are working on every day.
Not to mention your occasional plumbing or electrical issue. No matter the storm we continue to make lemonade with the lemons life throws at us!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The BeautyBark is a pet grooming salon, we provide exceptional care to Dogs and Cats whether it’s just a nail trim, bath , or a haircut. We believe in building long lasting relationships with our human & Four legged clients. Building a community that believed in vitality over vanity. That is what we are known for, We each specialize in grooming but in our own individual way. Rachel prefers grooming the fluffy dogs like poodles and doodles, where I prefer grooming terriers, and pattered styles. We currently have 10 employees including ourselves. I believe what we are most proud of is just simply believing I. Ourselves and taking the leap. Opening a brand new business isn’t something we took lightly we were scared, but we did it anyways.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Collaborations can be as simple as mentioning us in a social media post, or word of mouth. Supporting a small business can be done in many small ways, even if you don’t have a pet. Liking/following us on social media. Or just simply stopping in to say hello, none of it is taken for granted.
