Hi Donnie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into fatherhood advocacy began the moment I became a stepdad to my eldest daughter. Slipping into that role felt natural, and I instantly fell in love with being a father. That passion led me to launch a YouTube vlog, The Daddy Deal, where I shared our family’s experiences to inspire and connect with other dads.
The catalyst for launching my non-profit, Knights of Patriarch, came during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. My 2-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer, and during the long weeks we spent at Texas Children’s Hospital in downtown Houston for his chemotherapy treatments, I noticed a striking pattern. Mothers and children had dedicated support networks, but fathers were largely expected to just “be the strong one” without any resources or support tailored to them. Dads were receiving whatever support was leftover, and while we naturally put our families first, I saw firsthand how isolating and overwhelming that weight could be.
I believed someone needed to stand in the gap for fathers, and who better to do that than another father who had walked in those exact shoes?
I started this work in the middle of our family’s hardest battle, and I’ve gotten to where I am today by locking arms with a compassionate community that believes no father should have to walk through a crisis alone.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Anytime you set out to build something designed to make a real impact in people’s lives, you encounter resistance. The hardest obstacle wasn’t administrative; it was living through the very pain that birthed this mission.
Navigating my 2-year-old son’s cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments tested every part of me. It forced me to lean deeply into my faith, fight for a stronger marriage, and protect our family dynamic during a season of constant uncertainty. But that trial became our testimony. That season pushed us to transform our personal struggle into a lifeline for others, turning our hardest battle into the foundation for how we serve and stand beside other families in theirs.

We are built to serve as a vital lifeline for cancer dads carrying the heavy weight of a child’s medical diagnosis. Through our primary initiative, The FatherNet Project, our mission is to supply dads spending weeks at a Hospital with physical care packages loaded with personal essentials, holistic stress-relief tools, and a direct link to a supportive community.
Beyond the hospital room, our vision extends to offering brotherhood to men and hands-on mentorship programs for young boys learning healthy leadership.
