Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Simms & Sondra Lagasse.
Hi Jill Simms & Sondra Lagasse, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started this business with a shared passion for beautiful, and yet accessible design. Design for ANY space, in ANY style. We have since brought on other stylists who share our same vision. We know that each person has a unique style, and that every home has different needs. Because of this, we accommodate a wide range of budgets and design-styles to keep our clients and their families the focus of every project.
With a team of 20 women with so many different specialities, we are able to provide multiple different services to our clients. Through home decorating, consulting, e-design, renovating, organizing, and event styling – our team is committed to ‘bringing style home’ to our community everyday.
This year we will be celebrating 10 years of business and we feel so grateful to have watched this business grow and continue to grow everyday. We continue to have a waitlist for all services and feel so honored that our neighbors continue to trust us with their homes and events.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The two of us have LOVED working together from the very beginning. It’s rare that you can find a friend that you can also have a healthy and solid working relationship with as well. We have now run our business together for almost 10 years and learned SO much along the way.
With 2 owners you have to be willing to compromise and trust each other completely. Owning a business of course comes with struggles – whether it’s financial, or with managing a large team, and dealing with difficult client situations. We’ve also survived the pandemic, dealt with a recession impacting clients’ buying power, and needing to stay flexible for our team members’ who are also in the life stage of raising school-aged kids and trying to balance it all. But through it all, we have supported each other and worked together to keep growing the business.
We have also found time to give back to our community as a ‘thank you’ for all the ways they’ve supported us. This year, Interfaith of The Woodlands chose us as ‘Community Champions’ due to our annual Donation Drive we organize for them and the support our team tries to give them year round. It was an incredible honor and we are so excited to continue partnering with them and their many amazing programs in our community. Their motto is to ‘give a hand up, not a hand out’ and accomplish this through their food pantry, community clinic, and services for our school-aged children and seniors in need. Because everyone faces challenges and it’s our job to serve one another any way we can.
We’ve been impressed with Woodlands Style House, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We started this business because we saw a need in the industry for more accessible design, and we knew we could help by offering our decorating, renovating, & consulting services. We feel strongly that great design doesn’t always have to cost a fortune and we love sharing what we’ve learned over our years in this industry. What began as just the two of us, has turned into an entire team of talented women. We also work with a number of amazing contractors who all help make our projects possible. We are SO honored that our community trusts us with their homes & their special events, and can’t wait to continue our tradition of creating beautiful spaces in a more accessible way.
What matters most to you? Why?
Helping our clients create a home that they LOVE. Home makes up so much of who we are and what we experience every day, and we love being able to create spaces that reflect our clients’ personalities, passions, and priorities. We also strive to always combine beauty with function so that it works for our clients’ families in a practical way as well.
