Today we’d like to introduce you to Edmar Colin.
Hi Edmar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Edmar Colin.
I started my career in 2013, after experiencing an episode of homophobia at the company where I was working. At the time, I was a telemarketing operator.
After that experience, I decided to become a comedian. Comedy became a way for me to turn my pain, my experiences, and the prejudice I faced into humor. Instead of letting those experiences define me, I found a way to transform them into something that could make other people laugh and feel represented.
Since then, my career has grown a lot. Today, I reach millions of people through Instagram and TikTok. I’ve appeared on television programs, I perform comedy shows all over Brazil, and I also develop social projects that use comedy to bring entertainment to people who don’t always have access to it, especially in the peripheral communities of São Paulo.
So, in a way, my journey started with a difficult experience, but I was able to transform that experience into my career, my voice, and a way to connect with millions of people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being an artist in Brazil is my biggest challenge because making a living out of art here is very tough. Opportunities simply aren’t distributed equally, so you constantly have to push through structural hurdles that make a creative career an uphill battle. But despite all that, I keep moving forward through hard work, persistence, and faith in what I do.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Since 2013, I’ve been fighting for my space in the Brazilian comedy scene. I’m a stand-up comedian and content creator specializing in everyday, relatable humor. Over the years, I’ve built a community of millions of followers, performed on major national TV shows, and even caught the attention of big Brazilian icons—like TV host Xuxa Meneghel, who is actually a fan of my work.
What I’m most proud of is using my platform for social projects through comedy. I firmly believe art should open doors and transform lives.
What sets me apart is this unique mix: high-energy stage comedy, a strong digital audience, and a heart for social impact. I don’t just want to make people laugh—I want to leave a lasting mark.

What I like best :
What I love most about São Paulo is its unstoppable energy and incredible cultural diversity. It’s a city where art and comedy never sleep, and the audience here is extraordinarily warm and receptive. If you can make it in São Paulo, you can make it anywhere—the opportunities to connect with people from all walks of life are endless.

“What I like least is how intense and overwhelming the chaos can get—the endless traffic jams and the fast-paced lifestyle can be exhausting. More importantly, it’s painful to see the deep social inequality throughout the city, which reminds me every day why the social projects I work on are so necessary.
