Today we’d like to introduce you to Tran Dang.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m an Australian-born photographer based in Houston. Before Houston, I was lucky enough to live in places like Bucharest Romania and London UK. The love of travel runs in my veins, just like with all forms of art. And photography is one of them!
Previously, having worked in the corporate world, photography was always a hobby for me. Until about two years ago, when I decided to take a leap and start my business. My nickname’s been Si since the day I was born. Hence, the business name, Si Creative Photography.
All of my prior photography was capturing the scenic landscapes along on my travels. Now, I capture the beauty and moments of people that have gone by forever. I want to tell people’s stories through my images and evoke the emotions felt in that space and time when looked upon.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No road comes without challenges! Starting a new business in a new city definitely has its bumps and still does. However, if you really love what you’re doing, it’s all worth it. For a long time, I was struggling with my style of photography and I experimented with different edits. But I’m so much happier doing my own style and being me. So, for everyone out there, ‘you do you!’

I’m a Houston based photographer. Specializing in portraits, fashion and weddings. I like to use the warmth, light and shade the environment provides us and capture images that are bright, crisp and vibrant. Showing all the details, down to the delicate lace.
I’m the happiest when my images are chosen for publication or when people simply take their time to reach out and tell me how much they love my work. It’s always good to know you’re on the right path.
What were you like growing up?
I was the timid creative kid when I was young. Winning school and local business art competitions. My name once was mistaken for a boy and winning the prize for that category! Not much has changed (yes, I still sometimes get email replies back titled ‘Mr Tran’) and I still love being creative in all aspects. The only thing that has changed is that I got over my shyness and I really enjoy getting to know genuine people I meet on my journey.
