Today we’d like to introduce you to Bibiana Carbajal.
Hi Bibiana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised by hardworking parents who taught me early on that if I wanted something in life, I would have to work for it because no one would hand anything to me. Watching how hard my parents worked to provide for our family instilled a strong work ethic in me from a young age. I quickly learned the value of responsibility, perseverance, and earning what you have.
Growing up, I had always been a creative person. I also knew that helping and serving others brought me a lot of joy. I knew I wanted a career where I could make a difference in people’s lives while expressing my creativity.
When I was in high school, I found myself with 3 open class periods and decided to enroll in a cosmetology program that was offered. I had nothing else to do, and since I’m not the kind to sit around and do nothing, I always had to keep busy, I said, “Why not??”. I had no idea that the decision I had just made would become the foundation for my future career.
Cosmetology quickly grew into a genuine passion for beauty, creativity, and helping people. After becoming licensed in 2014, I spent years working in different areas of the beauty industry, continuing to grow my skills and build meaningful relationships with the people I serve. Today, after more than 12 years in the industry, I am the Founder of The Beauty Artistry Co., where my mission is to create an elevated beauty experience that helps every guest feel confident and valued.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced moments of self-doubt, imposter syndrome, financial uncertainty, and seasons where I questioned whether I was on the right path. Balancing motherhood, marriage, personal hardships, and a demanding career has required a lot of sacrifice and perseverance. There were times when life threw unexpected challenges my way, but I’ve learned that growth comes through difficult seasons.
One important lesson I have learned is that setbacks don’t have to define you. They can refine you. Every obstacle I’ve faced has made me more resilient, strengthened my faith, and helped me become a better wife, mother, stylist, business owner, and person.
In September of 2025 I was involved in a serious car accident that left me with a broken right hand. As a hairstylist and make-up artist, my hands are not just tools, they are the foundation of my career. In that moment, my biggest fear wasn’t surgery or the recovery process, it was the possibility of losing the ability to do what I love and not being able to show up for my family the way I always had. I was tested both physically and mentally. I had to learn patience, trust the healing process, and give myself grace during a season that forced me to slow down. That experience put life into perspective. It reminded me not to take my health, my career, or the people I love for granted. It also deepened my appreciation for the work I get to do.
Today I can look back and see that some of my greatest challenges have also been my greatest teachers. They taught me that challenges don’t define us; how we respond to them does.

What I am most proud of isn’t just the services I provide, It’s the trust my clients place in me. Many of them have been with me through major milestones in their lives, and being a small part of those moments is something I never take for granted.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone just starting out is to be patient with the process and stay consistent. We live in a world where it’s easy to compare ourselves to others and expect success to happen quickly, but most of what you see is the result of years of hard work behind the scenes.
I wish I had known that confidence doesn’t come before you start, it comes from continuing to show up, even when you’re unsure of yourself. There have been many moments in my career when I experienced self-doubt and imposter syndrome, but I’ve learned that growth happens when you’re willing to keep going despite your fears.
Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself, ask questions, continue to learn, and seek mentorship from people who have gone before you. The beauty about this industry is that there’s always something new to learn. Stay teachable, stay humble, and remember that relationships matter. In this industry technical skills are important, but what keeps people coming back to you, is the way you make them feel.
Most importantly, keep God first and don’t let setbacks convince you to quit. Every challenge, mistake, and obstacle is an opportunity to grow. Trust the process, stay true to who you are, and remember that every expert was once a beginner.
