Today we’d like to introduce you to Felix Preciado.
Hi Felix, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Felix Preciado to the art world I’m known as ZA_Art_Preciado. But to my grandparents I was known as Gordo. I said it all the time, but I grew up very poor living with my grandparents. One of the only things that helped me get by at times was drawing my escape was Art such as it is now when things get a little hectic I just pick up a pencil or a brush and for that little second or for those little minutes or hours I’m free. I guess that’s with everything if you can find an escape by all means take that route as long as it’s in a positive way. I believe I got this far because I never quit and I never give up even when at times that would be the easiest thing to do. This always had to keep up the good fight. Keep your head held up high like your nose is bleeding and push through.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. It’s constant obstacles trials and tribulations, but with a good head on your shoulders, you can get as far as you can put your mind to. Some of the struggles were more time than anything I would get to the point where I felt like I didn’t have time to paint, but then I would sit down and I would have time to scroll on my phone and as soon as I broke that habit, that’s when some work started getting done. Another one is I was to focused on doing what people liked rather than doing what I liked and that took the joy out of painting every now and then I’ll take up commissions, but it’s very rare when I do that especially if I don’t find it motivating enough for me to do it. Painting is my escape and when I’m painting what people want me to paint it feels more like a job than a hobby and I don’t want those two to intertwine .
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I guess people know me by my portrait, styles, mixing mediums, and just being random with what I paint. I just need to get more active at painting and push more stuff out. I’m getting better at it. I’m always working at my craft and I got more in mind and in store for the near future.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
To collaborate with me, you just have to hit me up. I’m always down to work with new artist or older artist. I think it’s cool mixing mediums and mixing styles and how you support you just gotta like follow and share my stuff.
