Community Highlights: Meet Shanice Jones of Clear Lens PR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanice Jones.

Hi Shanice, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into PR and entertainment has really been shaped by my passion for storytelling, culture, and creating meaningful connections. I started my career through contract publicity roles with TV networks, gaining hands-on experience in talent, media relations, red carpets, and entertainment programming. I later worked in an agency environment, where I continued developing my skills across PR strategy, media relations, and client work.

Before launching Clear Lens PR, I also co-founded **The Suite Spot**, an experiential platform for culturally rooted creatives working across entertainment and adjacent industries. We produced three events, creating spaces for creatives and industry professionals to connect and build meaningful relationships. That experience taught me a lot about events, partnerships, talent relations, and community-building.

From there, I launched **Clear Lens PR**, allowing me to bring my experience together and build a practice centered on talent visibility, media relations, and culturally driven storytelling. That eventually evolved into **IN HER Honor**, an experiential platform celebrating and paying homage to women shaping culture, industries, and communities.

Looking back, each chapter has really prepared me for the next — from learning the entertainment landscape, to building experiences and community, to creating my own agency and platforms. Today, I’m focused on continuing to create work at the intersection of culture, entertainment, PR, and meaningful storytelling.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Breaking into the entertainment industry was an 8+ year journey. I didn’t graduate and jump right into working in entertainment. I worked other jobs and built a career in higher education before eventually making the transition into entertainment. And once I got there, the challenges continued.

In a sense, I was told that I wasn’t good enough, which brought on even more struggles. But throughout it all, I never let those experiences deter me, and I never took those words personally. Because in that moment, I may not have been good enough for that particular place, but I believe two things can be true: I may not have been good enough for that particular opportunity, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t good enough at all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Clear Lens PR is a boutique public relations firm specializing in **talent visibility, media relations, and culturally driven storytelling**, working across entertainment, creative industries, entrepreneurship, and brands.

What sets us apart is our ability to think beyond traditional publicity. We look at the bigger picture — from media strategy and positioning to partnerships, talent relations, and experiential opportunities — to create meaningful visibility for our clients.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I am born and raised in Houston, so I am going to always be proud of where I’m from and make sure I let it be known that Houston is the best city ever. Our culture and food is unmatched.

However, I would say opportunities here when it comes to the entertainment industry are limited. We are not a focal point for film and TV so those opportunities are pretty nonexistent when it comes to working for major studios, etc.
